“Happy New Year”
Reviewed March 24, 2012

We spent new year camped at beautiful Moke Lake to get away from the craziness of Queenstown. It was utterly beautiful. Peaceful, calm, tranquil etc. recommend taking a kayak if you have one to have a nice relaxed paddle in the water. Or walk around it, or follow The Moonlight Trail from it. Moke Lake is a small wee lake set in a basic that blocks the noise of the outside world and a place to go to chill out and relax or just take a swim in the sunshine. Glorious!

“Great hike or bike ride and/or picnic area”
Reviewed March 23, 2012

You can ride a bike from the main road between Queenstown and Glenorchy up. It's about 2.5 miles from the end of the pavement and it's a serious climb the entire way. From pavement you get on a dirt farm road for several miles, so XC MTB recommended. There's a hiking/biking loop of about 4 miles around the lake you can do when you get there or you can hang out at the lake which is very peaceful and scenic. Horses, bikes, cars are allowed.
