“State of Relax”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2014

My family of five stayed here the week after Christmas. We picked this hotel based on the trip advisor reviews (which never let us down!) At first driving into Queenstown we went to the "downtown" area and walked around and had dinner on the waterfront. We were not sure what to expect since this hotel sits on the other side of the lake and in the dark we felt we were leaving Queenstown. However when we arrived it did not disappoint. Our rooms had views of the lake (third floor). You can lay in bed and see the lake. There is a trail(bike, walk) that goes around the lake (bridge) where there are plenty of places to stop and jump in the water(cold for a Floridain)! You can even swim right out the back of the hotel which was steps from our room. There is a water taxi- 20NZ that picks up/drops off right at the hotel dock. We drove most of the time over to the "town" area and never had trouble finding parking- even if you walk a bit the whole area is beautiful and worth it! They have a few restaurants including a mini cafe(quick bites/coffee on site. The staff is beyond friendly (as was our exerience with all Kiwis!) Wait time at the restaurants/cafe was a bit too long for our liking, but had been fore- warned and decided to just relax and go with the slow flow! Rooms had nice size bathrooms- double sinks, shower, bath. Nice size sitting area down a step of two from where the bed is placed. Balcony could of been a bit bigger, but nice to stand. There are other rooms that appear to have much bigger balconies. Housekeeping is excellent never came knocking too early and if we left for breakfast they were done by the time we came back. Very clean- and I am a clean freak! The complex has timeshares/ownership sections and parking can get crowded. Two nights there was not enough parking available, but hotel staff made quick decisions and allowed people to park near entrance on street. Very safe. This hotel is near the airport and a small shopping plaza that had grocery/restaurants/retail. After visiting the "town" area and seeing all the other hotels we had considered we were very happy we choose to stay at the Hilton. We actually acheived a state of "relax" instead of that constant tourism state.

Our stay at this hotel was outstanding, from the views from the hotel and room to the wonderful bed. The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble, and they were very friendly. It was peaceful and great to be out of the hustle and bustle of Queenstown. As we had a rental car it was only a short drive into Queenstown. Would highly recommend this hotel to all travelers.

The hotel is in a very beautiful, remote part of the city, right on a long walking/bike path. It is nice if you do not want to be in the middle of everything in downtown Queenstown. We did have a rental car, and fortunately drove in most times (15 minute drive). It is a $45 cab ride, or you can take the water taxi for $10 each way/person. This is definitely a negative if you plan to go into town quite often. However, we planned our days accordingly.

Our room was 3 rooms, with a sitting/living room with a tv, fireplace, and 2 couches, the bedroom which opened up to the deck overlooking the terrace and the lake, and then a huge bathroom with a separate tub and shower. I was very impressed with the luxury in the room, and the stunning views. We took part in the complimentary breakfast, which for $25 was a considerable let down. For $10 more you could get a hot meal... fortunately ours was free but I did not find it worthwhile if we were paying.

The amenities (pool/spa/hottub) were all exquisite and elegent.. as well as the other resturaunts.

You truly can't beat the views or the remoteness of this resort.. it truly is a place for relaxation.

Wow-got lots of brownie points by taking her indoors here for 2 nights. We only had the cheapest room, but that was superb.Very styly, beautifully designed. The pool looked great, very nice, helpfull staff.
A bit of a pain getting from the carpark, which is in the hotel behind the Hilton, underground. The security is very good, you can leave the hotel several ways, but have to go through reception to get back in.Why no swipe card access at the end doors, near the carpark?.Bloody cold getting back in.
The setting is quite magical, with a nice dock and walking path beside the lake.Room service meals seemed pretty pricy,so we just went to town.
Will definately be back.

The hotel and setting is lovely. However, if you do not have a car it will be difficult to get into town. A taxi is $40NZ each way and the water taxi is $10NZ per person each way. In addition, the water taxi doesn't start running until noon. If you want to go into town each day/night and do not have a car look for another hotel.

Thank you for your review, I agree the hotel and setting are lovely.

It is a shame you didn't make use of the complimentary shuttle. We introduced it so that our guests can access the town easily without any cost.

Very clean, very tidy, and effectively brand new rooms finished to a very high standard, great location not directly in Queenstown but a 5 min water Taxi from the doorstep ($10 per person) which was ideal as I wasn't keen to be in the busy township, would easily stay here again, helpful staff were great also

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nites during our trip to queenstown for holidays. I would like to comment on our lovely experience as per the following:
1. The hotel is near to the airport, just 10-15 mins drive
2. The view is fantastic just next to the lake and overlooking scenic beauty of queenstown
3. We checked into a suite and our room was on the first floor. Even though it was a little far from the main reception, but the room was marvelous. It had large balconies overlooking the lake and one can have a panaromic view of queenstown.
4. The service was very good and the staff is friendly
5. There are multiple options for food here, various restaurants. We had dinner at one of their restaurant called the Grill. The food was good and we were surprised to see they had Indian dishes in their menu. Its just the breakfast was same all 5 days, may be they can have a little variety
6. The only drawback of this place is its away from the main city center, its about 15-20 mins drive from the main center. So it becomes a bit lonely at nite, if you wanna venture out for a walk.

Overall an awesome place to stay if in queenstown. One of my favorite hotels.

Great review, thank you.

I was really pleased to read how much you enjoyed your stay with us. We have introduced a complimentary shuttle service into town to alleviate the issue people have with the distance from town.

Hopefully see you again soon
