The hotel is beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel room was fantastic with our own fireplace and large luxuriously appointed bathroom and lake view. The staff were very friendly and always accommodating. Thanks to Layla and Bridget at Stacks, you were always welcoming as was Shiraz in the cafe.

Just a couple of recommendations regarding communication of important information (not covered in the hotel guest directory) would be to perhaps have a daily or weekly newsletter with water taxi and bus timetable, restaurant opening times including breakfast service and what to do with laundry as we bumbled along with these details and felt we had to keep going to reception. Also the parental lock on the tv, this was a little annoying at times especially as the majority of rooms are for adults only and this was normal tv viewing. The Cru Bar closure was also a bit of a disappointment too as we had been looking forward to spending a few evenings in there.

Overall the Hilton is a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of Queenstown and yes I think we would stay again. Thank you to the wonderful staff who made our first stay in Queenstown so enjoyable.

Room Tip: We were on the 6th floor which was very quiet.

Hilton is a good choice for those who want to enjoy scenery and city atmosphere. The hotel offers several choices to commute between the hotel and city center. A view from the hotel is one of the best views in Queenstown. Bed quality is very impressive as it deliver Hilton's standard.

If you want upscale accommodation but without the Queenstown ubervibe this is your hotel. It is comfortable, welcoming, well specced, with stunning views, right on the water, with walking and cycling tracks immediately adjacent, on the way to vineyards and golf courses and part of its own little village.

This Hotel has some problems that need addressing but overall is a fairly nice place.
It’s about a 20 minute drive from Queenstown center which will be a huge pain if you don’t have a car. It’s also a fairly dangerous drive in the middle of winter with Icy roads at night. The view in my opinion is not as nice as some of the places closer to Queenstown but due to its location it does get some nice morning sun.
The Hotel is a real eyesore when viewing it from the other side of the Lake, pity they couldn’t have blended it in with the environment a little instead of creating a mess of Concrete.
When checking in my credit card was asked for and a hold was put on some money. The receptionist did not tell me how much which I found extremely rude and didn’t happen at other Hotels in NZ.
Nothing at all about the Hotel was explained at Check in we had to discover ourselves that the main bar was closed for some reason. This was disappointing to say the least as nothing was mentioned on their website about certain facilities being closed.
The first night the heating system wasn’t working and we froze all night.
Now you may think you’re going to get the best night’s sleep in the lovely king size bed, but this was not the case. The air handling system in the Hotel is EXTREMELY noisy and cannot be stopped. Turning off your in room heating does not stop the noise. It was loud enough to really disrupt my sleep and was the worst part of the stay. Maybe it was just our room 601? I could imagine some guests losing it over the noise.
The room was lovely overall, we had a Deluxe Lakeview. The standout feature was probably the bathroom, it was very well done.
I also enjoyed the Pool area and Gym.
Would I stay again? Probably not, we paid half the price we paid for this room closer to Queenstown at another Hotel and had a better view.
The Hotel is nice and you will probably arrive thinking to yourself wow this place is great but all the little annoyances ended up getting on my nerves, I regretted spending the extra money on the Hilton instead of staying at our Original Cheaper Hotel.

Dear Velcro Chicken

Thank you for your constructive feedback. We have a few areas to work on to achieve the consistency and quality we strive for.

I have investigated the noise in room 601 and have found a bathroom fan that needs replacing. Following your comments we have started to review all rooms to ensure we are replacing any faulty fans.

I really do appreciate the comments and would like the opportunity to welcome you back so please feel free to contact me if you are visiting Queenstown.

Kind regards

We spent three nights at the Hilton. The hotel is beautifully appointed on the banks of Lake Wakatipu and 5 minutes from the airport. Queenstown is only a 15 minute drive away. We were upgraded to a suite which had a cosy "alpine" feel to it with one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, spacious bedroom and sitting room and an excellent sized bathroom. The staff were very attentive and friendly with a special mention for Italian Davide who recommended the best wineries to visit and the wines to taste there. Try the lamb shoulder or rack in the Wakatipu Grill. Both are excellent and the breakfasts are good with several options to choose from. All in all we loved this hotel and would definitely go back there.

We stayed at the Hilton for a Conference 12th - 15th June 2013. The hotel, location, room were all fantastic and could not fault the hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful. Our room looked directly out to the lake, and we could walk straight out of our lounge to a large deck and garden area. Lovely walks along the lake in either direction. Wonderful food at the Wakatipu Grill and excellent service. Large bed, huge bathroom and lovely lounge area, with a fireplace, which is just so relaxing and enjoyable when the temperatures drop. Will look forward to coming back here again soon.

Very affordable and enticing packages for bed & breakfast (we booked a 5 night package). Beautifully presented Hotel and guest room; warm & inviting with comfy sofa's, huge bed, & a massive bathroom. Was most impressed with the 25m lap pool and the 'spa retreat like' changing rooms. A gorgeous place to wind-down & relax. I do wish that I had requested a contour pillow (which I assume is available) as that is what my neck is use to at home. A fantastic trip & would recommend the Hilton to all!!
