Queenstown Lakeview Holiday Park
Reviewed August 27, 2013

We stayed here in our camper van in September 2012 & returned this year (2013). Again we thoroughly enjoyed the convenience of being within walking distance to town & the skyline gondala. The facilities are very clean & tidy. There's even heaters in the showers/toilets! Staff are very friendly & welcoming.

What we are extremely disappointed about this time is that on our last night of our 4 night stay, there was a loud party with young teenagers staying in some chalets adjacent to the toilets & showers. We ended up calling the emergency number after midnight and spoke with the park manager to see if they could assist us. The manager advised that although the chalets are on the parks land and included on the parks site map, they did not actually own them and had no jurisdiction over them. There was nothing management could do and they advised we'd have to call the Police for assistance.

We called the Police and are not sure if they attended or not. By approx. 3am the noise had ceased and we were able to get at least a few hours sleep. It cost us $32 AUD to make that phone call to Police using our mobile and it took some time for us to explain to the Police that this matter could not be resolved by the park manager even though it was on park land. We also had difficulty explaining to the Police on how to get to the correct location.

Maybe the park management could assist guests in the future by offering to report this type of matter to the Police on behalf of the guests. Being from Australia we were not familiar with roads to assist Police for their attendance and we also incurred a large phone charge having to use our mobile phone.

All in all this is a great place to stay, just be aware of those chalets which are not managed by the holiday park as they cannot control who stays there.

as i read through the reviews, i was like? have i been to a different hotel? or they just change their management? anyhow, after arriving at the reception, we were glad because the receptionist let us in even it was still not the time for check-in's (his reason was, the room was not use the night before. meaning to say it was clean and ready to be used). after checking our room. i could give it a five star rate(got 2 heaters, and electric blankets, TV, thermos, glasses, coffee-tea-sugar, ect.) but when we came back after our day's tour we discovered that the half of the electric blanket was not working, the other bed has none, there was no shampoo being given, only 2 bar of soaps (when we check-in for good for 4 person). so we go to check the communal kitchen it was good, complete with all basic kitchen needs, however there was only like 4 or 5 burner working, out of 12, with the stoves, no dish-washing liquid, paper towels and toothpicks(just for the basics with what you need after using a kitchen, if you know what i mean?)

so we let the reception know of concerns by going to the reception ourselves because there's no landlines to get in touch with them. so they gave us new electric blankets (but we have to put it ourselves) only then to find out the there were no enough plugs for it. for the soap the lady told us that it is really only two bars to be given, although each day. and there is really no shampoo being given! on our second night we discovered that only the rubbish bins are the only thing that they cleaned in our room.

i didn't receive the price for what we've paid for.

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst in Queenstown recently. We were in a campervan and had a powered site. The facilities were great, modern & clean, and the heating in the bathrooms was lovely! The location was fantastic - only a couple of minutes walk to many great restaurants, and to the Skyline.

After booking the powered site weeks earlier it was great to arrive at the park and see the awesome mountain and lake views. With free showers and staff to book our adventures it was a great 5 night stay. Positioned up the hill from town, its a tough walk up if you are doing 4-5 times a day, it was so close to all the eating and shopping. Great value place

This was our favourite campsite during our campervan holiday around the South Island of NZ. It is in a fantastic location and the facilities are of a very good standard. Definitely the nicest campsite in queenstown that we could see.

We decided to stay here as it was pretty much the only thing we could find at the last minute in Queenstown which would accommodate 2 adults, 2 kids. We paid around AUD$130 per night for a studio room which was good value for money. The studio room had coffee making facilities, a fridge and a few plates and bowls. The kitchen was 10 metres away, however we didn't really use it. Overall, nothing special; rooms were relatively new, clean and adequate but don't expect luxury. Reminded a bit of school camp facilities, although that may have something to do with the fact the place was packed with teenagers on a school skiing trip!

Hi Kylie A,
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. I am happy to read that overall you enjoyed your stay and we were able to accommodate you and your family at the very last minute. Over the school holidays we have indeed a large number of teenagers around and most of the time they will have their meals at the communal kitchen, which was designed in a functional way to be used by groups and families in general. Once again, thank you for your review and we look forward to welcoming you again in the park.

This was probably one of the best campsites we have ever stayed on and is in a great location only a 5min walk from town. We paid $40 per night for a powered camper site which is the fee available for staying 3 or more nights. I think it was more like $50 a night if you stay for a shorter period.
The holiday park has everything from powered sites for campervans to motel units and has all the basic amenities expected and more which are all well looked after.
It is located right next to the base of the Skyline gondola so if you miss the signs or don’t have GPS you can just head in that general direction and you’ll find it easy enough. The gondola can be seen from all round the town.
