“Good dining!”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

We ate at the Ballarat Trading Company on two occasions - once for lunch and once for dinner. The menu offers a broad choice of meats and fish with a comprehensive wine list and several beer options. There is indoor and outdoor seating, both comfortable. The decor is entertaining and the views out the windows permit some great people watching.

Our meals were well prepared and served hot. The staff is attentive and helpful. When we came for dinner we asked about an outside table that was open and the hostess said that would be fine but cautioned us that the couple at the next table were smoking - a very nice tip so we took an indoor table at an open door. We had the best of both worlds.

Highly recommended while you are in Queenstown!

“Great spot in Queenstown!”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

I visited The Ballarat a few times during my stay in Queenstown. It's in a great location, in the centre of town. Lovely bar food, friendly staff and great live music! I'd definitely recommend it!!

“Nice lunch spot”

My sister loved this place- went two days in a row! I liked it too! Great sandwiches. Cute restaurant. And if it's nice, you can sit outside and people watch! Definitely worth a look!

“Average food in a pub environment”
Reviewed February 25, 2014

There seemed to be a staffing problem at this place - although the staff were friendly, they were rushed. Tables did not have dedicated waiting staff and we were served by several different people, which led to some confusion. Also, the staff training was inadequate; for example, an inability to serve wine correctly (selected from a lack luster wine list). The food was ok, but only that; the kitchen lacked verve and imagination. Most places in Queenstown are pricey and although it is possible to eat for a little less at the Ballarat Trading Company, this is reflected in the quality of the food.
