i have stayed at deco for almost six months.
the rooms were spacious, backpackers were friendly, views were amazing and the management was just brilliant.

My husband and I planned to stay in Queenstown two nights and ended up staying a week. Deco was a great spot to use as a base for any of your shopping, adventure or sightseeing activities. We had a double room, very quiet. The kitchen is top notch and if you want to meet fellow travelers everyone gathers in the dining room at suppertime. Unlimited free internet sealed the deal for us and we would stay here anytime we are back in the area, highly recommend it!
Stayed 4 nights in Deco's backpackers. Our room was a double adjoining the outside eating area. This place advertised itself as a non-party bus hostel, however it was full of long term travellers who took over the place. They got drunk and were loud all night every night, running up and down the corridors shouting and screaming basically acting like drunken idiots. There was no curfew unlike all the other backpackers we stayed in so noise continued throughout the night. The music actually got turned up at 11pm instead of being turned off. The kitchen was untidy and too small for all the residents to cook and the long termers just pushed you out the way and took over the place anyway. If they didnt like the look of you, you weren't welcome. On leaving we complained to the owners only to be told ' well you know what people are like when they get drunk'. No apology was offered. Such an awful place which was a shame as we really liked Queenstown. The only plus point was the fact that they had a huge plum tree in the back garden and we were told to help ourselves.
