I've stayed here since they opened a few years ago - three times total on separate trips. Each time, they are consistently a great hostel! The staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to help answer any questions you may have. The private rooms are phenomenal with balconies overlooking the lake. It's similar to staying in a hotel than an actual hostel, which is what makes this so appealing. Those private rooms are very much worth the money and the hike up the three flights of stairs to get to them (there are elevators too!).

They offer a booking service for any activities you want to partake and have plenty of pay-per-use computers to log on and check what's going on back home. Easy access in and out, great water pressure in the bathrooms, and a glorious view from the balconies. Definitely a great hostel to stay at if you're searching for something with more a hotel-like feel.

Room Tip: With a private room, ask for one with a balcony - great views of the lake and the Remarkables!

So I've been staying in back packers all across Newzealand and staying in this one honestly felt like I was royalty!

First of all, I paid less than I've paid in ANY hostel so far.. Book online to save a few bucks!!
Price included breakfast AND dinner!!!!!! Decent food, portions etc.

The ROOMS! I got upgraded, it was a quieter time of year, and had a balcony en-suite! Was gorgeous, amazing views!
Friends who were in a standard room had it all!! Clean, spacious.. Comfy beds too!!

The staff were great! Ever so friendly, they were on your level, not just a tea towel plonked behind reception to take our money!!

Massive tv room, big kitchen, social area with fire place, clean, big etc..

Location was spot on! Right by the lake and about a 5 minute max walk to furg burger which will be your most frequent walk of the day!!

I really take my hat off to Nomads! Much better than Base.

Stayed here in late November last year. Comfortable, clean and friendly staff at reception. Shared kitchen allowed us to cook our own meal on the last night, with some of the staff and other travelers contributing spices. great place, great location

I had been recommended to stay here from backpackers I had met in Dunedin and luckily for me I followed their recommendations! I came to Queenstown for 3 or 4 days and ended up stayin in Nomads for almost 7 weeks! This place has it all. Good location, staff and facilities.

Room Tip: Private rooms are hotel standard. Choose a smaller dorm for quieter nights!

Really central, nice modern and clean. Can be a little noisy, but private rooms are available. More expensive that some of the other hostels in town, but overall a nice clean place to stay for a few nights.

Room Tip: Ask for a smaller dorm or a private room if you can afford it

Me and my boyfriend stayed in a 6 bed dorm for 4 nights.

Positives
Rooms are huge.
Staff were friendly.
Free popcorn!
Fun, relaxed atmosphere in the common area and kitchen.
Events to get everyone together.
They have a dog :-).
Great travel shop.
Strict rules like everyone out of the common room/ no drinking after 11 meant that noise wasnt to bad for anyone wanting an early night.
Individual lights, ear plugs at each bunk bed meant you had your own privacy.
Lockers and chargers inside the rooms.
Security was strict after 11.

Negatives
There wasnt alot of washing machines / dryers.

We did have one encounter at reception. When we arrived we were given 2 cards to swipe in. We was not told that we would need to carry 2 cards with us at all times so i took my card with me on a night out. Me and the boyfriend came back and reception were so rude to us!! Basically implying that we were idiots and even said (some south african bloke) that we shouldnt be travelling without our parents!! All because we took one key card with us! So rude! If they want to set strict rules then let the lodgers know at arrival!

Ok so this hostel is clean, warm, comfy and alright priced. Dorms are big and its great to meet people too! one night a week they usually do a free meal and breakfast is free in the mornings. good location and safe. Some things i didnt like was that you can drink alcohol in your own dorm room and you couldnt drink alcohol in the common room after 9pm. As nomads is a chain i understand they have strict rules but some i thought were silly. there are way better hostels in town and thats why the rating for nomads is decresing. Would stay at absoloot instead again.

Room Tip: big dorms to meet people but sleep quality is reduced.
