These apartments and rooms are set on the lake around 5kms outside Queenstown (there are buses every 15 mins and cabs can be called), between the town and the airport (it's a ten minute drive to the airport which is great!)

The staff are just so lovely and friendly and there's a really laid back atmosphere which immediately sets you in holiday mode.

The road is a little busy but it's not really a problem as most motels on this road are on the roadside! We were in room 201A which is a lovely light-filled end room with lots of space. The beds are comfortable, everything's pretty minimalistic and it's neat and tidy. I loved having the fridge as we could make our own food as we needed (there's also a toaster which is so handy!)

The showers - oh the showers!!! They are brilliant; I was a little disappointed I didn't get a bath (as the apartments have baths) but the shower more than made up with it - the pressure is excellent and the shower room huge!

We were part of a large group and one of the days we had a big BBQ on site, near the lake, which was just beautiful. It's perfect for anyone wanting a casual affair before going out and great for families too.

There's also a cafe just opened called the Boathouse just beside the place, it's great for coffees and food, though queues may be a little long sometimes!

Room Tip: Lake side are great and on top floor rather than bottom as they may be a bit darker

Having stayed and paid similar prices in the nearby Frankton area which is just 5 minutes down the road the night before, I was disappointed when checking into this place. We had a studio room with no view and did not let much natural light in. The room was very bland and had no character/style. We were very disappointed. The location wasn't in the centre of queenstown (which we knew about) but this wasn't a problem for us as we had a hire car. Staff were very nice and happily allowed us to check out an hour later. But if you had a car, stay in the Kawarau Hotel in the Frankton area, far more luxury for the same price or less!

Firstly, all the staff was awesome from desk to room staff. Note that this hotel is 5.3 kms from the centre of Queenstown not an 'easy walk' I would not recommend a hotel room in the roadside block, it was noisy and too brightly lit at night, thicker curtains would help. The furnishings are smart and modern but impractical: low coffee table with dining height chairs is no good for eating or desk work, being round, it took up too much valuable space. Coffee/tea facilities very basic for NZ standards and the cups were far too small. The lakeside appartments are lovely, a big contrast to the hotel rooms

Room Tip: Make sure you are in the lakeside building

Mantra Marina is a few minutes outside of the main part of Queenstown, which for us was perfect as the town centre gets quite rowdy at night. The apartments are set right on the lake with breathtaking views of the mountains and lake from the room. It's very easy to get into town by car and it's also literally a couple of minutes from the airport which is very handy.
Staff were very helpful and knowledgable about booking trips around the area, as well as places to eat and go out in town.
In particular, the Boatshed is a great little restaurant on the water a couple of minutes' walk from Mantra Marina, which is worth checking out.

I visited Queenstown in the summer time, with out a schedule of activities. The Front desk was awesome and helped me book all the activities (heli-rafting, bungy jump, mountain biking, car rental etc). Room looked brand new, spacious. Very modern clean bathroom. Rented a bike from the hotel, and took off on the trail that started from my front door and follows the lake for miles. Lakeside place, with a seriously breathtaking view to wake up to.

We had the standard hotel room, place wasnt busy, but werent offered to pay more and get bigger room, i should have asked.
Had room close to main road, traffic sounds were a pain.
Room was small, no airconditioner or no fan.
Only had a kettle, no cooking facilities.
Nice new place though.
Easy walk to Queenstown, nice cafe close by along waterfront walk.

Great experience staying here during ouir visit to Queenstown, couldn't have asked for any more. Excellent location on the lake makes for amazing views across to The Remarkables and great runs or cycles, whilst being in between the airport and the town centre. Rooms are top class. Superb service from the Management with good recommendations on what to do and see. Highly recommended.
