What a find! We thought we were heading into a bottle store, this place is SO much more.

Wine tasting, so many wines in offer, incredible cheeseboard and such friendly service. Made our afternoon.

We will be back for sure.

First time visiting the store in Arrowtown. The store is beautiful, extremely well finished with a great atmosphere.

The staff however, not so great. The American gentleman with the grey hair, simply could not have shown any less of an interest if had of tried. His service was poor, came across smug and extremely condescending. At one point he cleaned a table next to use, then dragged the chair across the floor and returning it to where we were sitting. Actually damaging the floor in the process. When paying the bill, he didn’t ask if we enjoyed it, say please for our payment etc. Very very poor. The Asian lady who delivered our cheese board, didn’t explain the cheeses etc, also poor.

As locals, we were hoping for so much more as we love visiting Arrowtown, however, we won’t be returning to the winery.

Happy to discuss this in more detail.

First visit to the Winery in Arrowtown.

It certainly wont be the last.

8 of us had lunch.
We knew we would be noisey catching up so asked to sit in the small snug where the whiskeys are tasted. We had two great platters of food and chose not to wine taste as we knew the wine we wanted, so just ordered it by the bottle. Im not sure, (because someone else paid) but I think there might be a corkage fee if you drink by the bottle.

As locals we have some good places to drink in Arrowtown but I think this will be my new favourite place.

The atmosphere was great, the staff very friendly and the food was good. What more can you ask for?

We visited Arrowtown not long after lockdown restrictions were eased & met with a couple of friends at The Winery’s new Arrowtown premise one crisp autumn evening.

The Winery was an excellent choice; it was warm and cosy and we were surrounded in dozens of wines that we could try. The drinks options were complimented by the utterly divine Parmesan & truffle chips (these are worth going for on their own) chorizo and the meatballs were a hit with the kids.

A couple of the wines I liked so much I took some home, and there was definitely several more I would have loved to take with me.

We will definitely be heading back there over the winter months after skiing. There are comfy leather chairs beside the warm fire that have my name on them!

Don’t be put off by the name if you aren’t that into wine - I see they now do coffee, whisky, gin and of course there’s great tapas (did I mention the parmesan chips?).

Highly recommended for an activity, or wine research, socializing or eating.
