I'm such a drunkard. Everywhere I go in New Zealand, I'd always look for winery, restaurant that serves wine. Heck I even visit bottle shop in each and every town that I stopped by to purchase wines to drink at night, at the comfort of our accommodation. As a matter of fact, I couldn't recall the day which I didnt touch wine at all. In Queenstown where I spent the longest time was no exception.
So I googled around and The Winery popped out in the search. We settled the kids' dinner earlier and then dragged them to our intended destination. They were protesting but we insisted and we even offered sweet deals to keep them quiet.
The sights of hundreds (if not thousands) of wine bottles made us excited.
◾for starter, they will give you a card which you have to use to purchase a glass of wine. All you have to do is to insert the card into the wine dispenser machines, which by the way, are all around the outlet. Price varies depending on the type of wine and volume that you choose.
◾The small ones were so eager to help to press for me, or perhaps they found it fascinating to see this kind of technology for the first time.
◾No wine experience is completed without food hence the assorted cold cut, cheese, bread and cracker platter that also comes with pickles, and dried fruits. It's platter for two but the sheer size of it could easily feed 3-4.
They do have tables outside the premise should you want to drink and eat alfresco style but it was beginning of winter so I got cosy hanging out inside the premise itself. Of course they do sell wines by bottles if you have particular preference but to me, I had fun trying many types of wines which I do not normally see in Malaysia.
