Owner description: Milford Sound is the jewel of the South Island and a must see destination and Kiwi Discovery have been running trips to Milford Sound for over 25 years. Travel on the luxury coach with ample leg room and full commentary from Queenstown or Te Anau & ride in comfort as you take in the spectacular scenery. Once in Milford we join the Mitre Peak cruise boat, for that personal and up close experience. The boat does not take tour groups just "like minded independent travellers." So sit back and enjoy the complimentary tea and coffee and full commentary from our experienced guides as you learn the history of Fiordland National Park. A great value trip without the luxury price.

We almost missed the bus, because we got given the wrong time by someone else, or perhaps I wasn't listening, but luckily they waited the few extra minutes!

This trip is a must do if you are in Queenstown. The driver is experienced and knows the place like the back of his hand. Full of dry humour too haha. Beautiful views and nice comfortable bus.

The boat ride is also amazing, we had dolphins swimming along in front of the boat. Very nice boat, comfortable, warm (unless you get stuck outside under the waterfall).

We went on a brilliant sun shining day, but we were told that it is just as inspiring in the rain which I can believe.

Thank Andrew S

Good to hear we didn't forget you, we do try hard to find missing passengers but sometimes people just decide to stay in bed and not tell us.
Great to hear you enjoyed the cruise and were lucky enough to see dolphins and yes it is beautiful in all weathers - I actually prefer it in the rain as the waterfalls are amazing

The staff at Kiwi Discovery Ski rental and bus transfer service were excellent !!
From "Airport Ray" who gave us a guide tour of places to go and things to see in Queenstown, to the excellent and professional service given to us at the Ski rental shop, who made it so easy to obtain the right ski equipment and arrange our bus transfers to and from the ski fields, and "Coronet Rolf" our bus driver to and from the ski fields, who is a fourth generation Queenstown town local, and his informative and friendly service and was always willing to help.
You guys at Kiwi Discovery made my Queenstown experience an unforgettable experience that I will recommend to everyone I meet that is interested in seeing one of the most beautiful places in the world !!
Once again thank you very much,
Robin Martin

Thanks Robin
We are extremely lucky in that Ray, Rolf and many more of our team return year after year for the ski season and their passion for the area and the ski industry really shows in their work, and they love sharing their knowledge.
I did pass your comments onto them both at the end of the season thanks
Look forward to maybe seeing you back again next year (We do tend to get lots of regular returners and over the years we have made some great friends)
Thanks again for the great review

Despite a very early start this was a wonderful trip and well worth getting up early for. Travelling through lovely countryside and eventually through the rock was an experience in itself but the boat trip through the Sound was great (especially when one man decided to propose to his girlfriend - nice to be part of that!). Disappointing so sights of dolphins but you can't guarantee nature.

Yes we used to have an early start last year but looking to have a later start this year. Apart from in the winter as we have limited daylight and want to be at the interesting bits with the best light possible.
Shame you didn't see dolphins - you'll have to come back another time.... it's so different at various times of the year and with different weather.

The Kiwi tour was excellent - they picked us up very early in a comfy couch for the 4.5hr drive to Milford. Lots of commentary & lots to see. The 2 hour cruise around the sound itself was awesome. The smaller boat was able to get up close to rocks & waterfalls & we did see a couple of seals. Not too many people on board gave plenty of room for photo taking & enjoying the cruise. The only downer is the long drive back which can't be avoided unless you want to pay the extra for a flight back! (would have been lovely)

Thanks for the great review, we use a smaller boat especially for that up close and personal experience so glad you experienced and enjoyed that.
