“Superior Accomodation 5 min walk from heart of Queenstown.”
Reviewed March 2, 2010

We recently spent 4 days in Queenstown. When we walked into our 'room' the views from our window just took my breath away. We had the most spectacular, awesome view over Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables. The room was modern, very spacious and spotlessly clean, and we had a King Size bed that was so comfortable it was like sleeping on a cloud. We had a table and two chairs right by the window overlooking the views, and also another desk in the room, perfect for using our laptop, writing notes etc. This desk also had a bank of 4 power points just above it, which was fantastic for recharging the laptop, camera's, phones etc, which we all seem to have these days. There were also several other double power points around the room/apartment. It was lovely to be able to plug everything in, in the one place, without having to search around the room for available powerpoints here and there. I have not found this in any other place we have stayed. We had a lovely spacious kitchette area with microwave, free plunger coffee, and all the other usual things, cutlery, crockery etc. The bathroom was also very spacious. Our hosts were so friendly and helpful, nothing was any trouble, and they were happy to come up with suggestions of things to do and see while we were there. The washing machines are free to use. The internet is also available to use for a small fee. Though we were close to the road, we didn't hear any road traffic at all. We wished we had stayed there another week, and were very sad to leave such gorgeous accommodation, and such a stunning town. We can't wait to go back, it was the ideal base from which to do all the things Queenstown has to offer.

Stayed at these apartments for 7 nights, really close to the city centre about 5mins walk. If you come out of the apartments I would recommend crossing the road then go down either of the streets to arrived a the lake you can then walk along the lake with those magnificent views of the remarkables until you reach the park then you can just walk through the loveley botanic gardens to the City Centre. If you want you can also walk around the gardens on the edge of the lake really nice walk.

The apartments are well equipped and cleaned on a daily basis you can also use the washing machine for free. Nothing was ever too much for the hosts of this property and we found them very helpful. Those views from the apartments - well what can I say - they will be hard to beat. Definately worth staying at and they are in a great location with great views.

The studio looked new and was very clean and comfortable. Good kitchen facilities. Unfortunately our TV wasn’t working properly which was sad because we were looking forward to watching the Australian Open, and we couldn’t connect to the internet from the room. Parking wasn’t easy as the car park is on a slope, but you might find this problem in most places since Queestown is a hilly area. The view from the car park was outstanding. I would only recommend this motel if you’re looking for a good cheap place, as we were able to get a studio for 3 people $135. However, there are many better options around Queenstown. Also, it was odd that the owner don’t give receipts since it wasn’t very ‘green’; she said she’d be willing to waste paper if we must have a receipt (which I found very odd anyway, because we must have a receipt in case they overcharge us or there’s any problems)

Great views from front of Motel over the Lake and Mountains. Easy walk into town and although on the main road, was set back and very little noise. The room was extremely comfortable, clean and modern .. loved the up-to-date colour scheme and the modern bathroom. Well equiped kitchen for simple meals. Very helpful and cheerful owners with lots of suggestions for things to do in the area. We were very comfortable for the 4 days we stayed and will definitely stay at this motel again.

Well located 5 minute walk to central Queenstown through native reserve and along lake front. Rooms are well appointed, have full amenities, CLEAN, warm, roomy.
Proprietors were very helpful and friendly and a wealth of local knowledge offering to do’s and some not to do’s.
Complex is near new with some older rooms at the rear. Close to the road but very quiet due to construction materials used.
I travel allot with work and stay in far too many hotel & motel complexes. Queenstown Motel Apartments stands out amongst the crowd with the personal factor the owners bring and the fantastic rooms.
I recommend you stay here.

Right from the email correspondance I knew this place was going to be great.... communication was prompt, friendly, very informative and personalised. Owners truly do go over and above what is expected from a 'normal' accommodation facility!

As other reviewers have mentioned, QMA truly depicts the clean green image that NZ promotes - rarely do I see it put into practice to such detail!! Eg recycling bins built INTO the drawers, reading about how the motel units were built with previous materials as to reduce the landfill, choosing native plants for landscaping to reduce the use of pesticides/unnatural products,...the list goes on and on if you care to read about it in information book (yep, I had a few minutes free in between naps haha).

In terms of the room: very clean and modern decor! Everything is so new and fresh. Rooms even came with bathrobes! We had a lovely Lake Wakatipu view, it truly is stunning for the price range this motel falls into. The kitchen was fully stocked with plates, cutlery, microwave,...everything you need to have quick snacks/ready made meals if you're on the run.

This motel is not in town itself, but on the outskirts - about a 5 minute walk if you take the shortcut walkway that leads you to Marine Parade side - or you can follow Stanley St and land in the city centre. It was actually better not to have a car - everything is easily walkable.

As a Nzer, I would be proud to recommend this accommodation to any visitors that are planning to come over...it truly is a steal of a place to stay while in Queenstown!

QMA rated at the top of my list of New Zealand motel accomadation; and for work, I stay in a lot of places. They have all the main criteria covered...slick and prompt electronic communication, no fuss, and they actually really know what they're doing with guests and tourism. My new room was brilliant, and very quiet despite being very close to where it's all happening downtown. The room was warm, (just right) and at last, new accomadation that is totally into environmental matters-you can separate your rubbish/ recycle, etc. Brilliant. Further, the gardens were being tended to by the owners, and very well at that.
Price wise, very reasonably priced...1990's prices here in 2009! I'm still mildly stunned...I expected to pay more in Winter at a ski resort, so whatever you do don't tell them!
As a typical customer, I also changed my plans, added a night, and this was no problem at all. On the strength of my initial two night experience, I booked other colleagues into QMA with my recommendation, something I don't really do.
On top of all that, I even find myself writing all this down at a website, for goodness sake!Highly recommended.
