We booked the combo for Shotover Jet/Helicopter/Skyline Gondola Luge. We booked several days in advance when the weather was forecast to be great. 2 hours before we were due to checkin I was phoned and told we couldn't do the helicopter due to their only being 3 of us for the helicopter where a minimum of 4 is there requirement. This was the first we had been informed of minimum numbers. We chose this trip from the brochure and there was no mention of minimum numbers nor was anything said to us when we booked with QN Combos, which we did directly and in person. I expressed my disappointment that we were only just being told this and that it was not advertised (our generic ticket said minimum numbers "may" apply to some trips with nothing specified). The Manager finally agreed to accept the error was theirs and that they would cover it and the trip would go ahead. We didn't end up doing the helicopter anyway due to it subsequently being cancelled for wind however overall the combo was not worth it. We could have booked each individual element separately at a cheaper price!!! AND we would have ensured we got to do everything we wanted to do. I would not recommend Queenstown Combos.

Thanks for your review. We are sorry that you weren’t informed of the minimum numbers before your trip and that your helicopter ride was eventually cancelled due to the very erratic weather in Queenstown. Your feedback has been forwarded to our management team who have reviewed our policy to ensure that this is clearer in the future and that this confusion does not happen again. We hope you enjoyed the other parts of your trip. We are proud to offer the best price for helicopter flights in Queenstown with great combo savings. Cheaper prices for helicopter flights cannot be found here in Queenstown and it is never cheaper to book the elements of any of our combos separately.

Two of my friends booked the Heli/Shotover combo while the remaining three of us went for the Skydive/Shotover combo. The team coordinated well in booking us together for the shotover jet in the morning, before we split up for our respective Heli ride and Skydive. Skydive was awesome (highly recommended)! Shotover Jet was thrilling too but only a short 25 min ride.

The Heli scenic ride was very disappointing. The ride ended after a mere 6 min which cost NZD160. The view from the Helicopter was quite similar to the views from the summit of Skyline Gondola and several lookouts. Even the scenery from our Skydive plane was much better. The duration of the Heli ride was not mentioned in the website. It only states that the total duration for the Heli/Shotover combo is 2.5 hours, which is pretty misleading. We should have asked for more details before we booked the combos!

Hi Koh, thank you for your review. We are happy to hear that our reservations teams were helpful in coordinating your different combo packages. We are also happy to hear that you enjoyed your Skydive and Jet Boat experience. Thank you for your feedback regarding the scenic helicopter flight, we are always seeking to improve our service and customer experience. We will therefore relay this feedback onto the helicopter company.

We booked through combos as we wanted to do a number of activities whilst in Queenstown, the heli rafting, shotover jet and the Sky dive. Each of the activities, when we eventually got to do them, were excellent but no thanks to Combos.
We booked the night before for the Heli rafting and the shot over and were due to do the sky diving a few days later when the weather was better. We booked at around 5pm and had to meet at 8am the next morning. The weather was looking good. We turned up with perfect weather and were told that it had been cancelled. When we queried why, due to the weather being fine, we were told it was because of numbers! Having only booked 5pm the night before they should have known whether or not they had numbers for the next day. We were told we could either wait until the afternoon or could book another day. As with most people we only had limited time in QT so we had no choice but to do this in the afternoon. As it turned out the weather was fine and we got to do the Heli ride but we were really fed up at wasting a morning for no reason other than Combos incompetence when booking or advising us that there were not enough numbers booked. It got worse when we turned up to do the sky dive as we should have been given a voucher by combos to give to Nzone which they never gave to us. Luckily the girl at Nzone was brilliant and managed to sort this out for us otherwise i suspect, once again, our booking would have been messed up.
Another interesting point we discovered was that when you book a combo skydive, and you are not told this anywhere, you are booking a 9,000ft skydive. When we spoke to Nzone they said they dont even really do a 9,000ft dive and therefore you will always have to pay the extra to upgrade to 12,000ft or 15,000ft so the price you think you are paying is never correct, it will always be more.

Hi Rokrio, thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are sorry to hear that there was some confusion with your booking and that you feel you were misinformed on a number of points. We always do our best to relay all information as clearly and concisely as possible. We have, therefore, followed up with our customer service team with regards to your concerns. Unfortunately, with many activities in Queenstown we do require minimum numbers to operate and our booking numbers can fluctuate, it may have been that the heli portion of the trip was confirmed at the time of booking hence this not being relayed to you. You should have been instructed by your agent at the time of booking that our skydiving combos are a 9,000ft jump and that upgrade options are available, we apologies that this wasn’t the case. Despite this though booking the combos still does save you money and does not cost more than booking it separately. The Skydive Heli-Raft Combo booked saved you $19 per person, even if you chose to upgrade.
Again we are sorry for the confusion and thank you for your feedback, we are always seeking to improve our customer experience and will be utilising your review to help us do this.

Loved ever second of this experience! Well organised with regular shuttles leaving from down town cheap repeat offerings. Spectacular scenery, super close calls never once felt in any danger or like I wasn't in safe hands!

I booked the Heli/Shotover/Gondola combo for my 40th and wedding anniversary.

On the day we were booked we went to the counter and the guy told me to speak to the girl just to his right. I moved and waited while she continued her personal conversation with a coworker. After several minutes of standing there ignored my husband approached and pointed out how rude that was. We were then told that no one else was booked for that afternoon so we could not have the helicopter ride. If we'd been told there was no one booked even the day before we may have been able to reschedule other activities and go that afternoon.

We juggled some activities for the following day and rebooked but received a call saying that it was too windy to go up in the helicopter (doesn't seem windy to me, maybe a light breeze). At least we had a phone call that day rather than finding out when we got there.

Heading home tomorrow so guess we miss out

Hi Louise,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Customer feedback is very important to us and I am so sorry to hear that your experience with us was not a positive one. I have discussed your feedback with the staff member in question and it was an unfortunate situation where she simply did not know you were there. We always seek to provide the highest standard of customer service with this being an honest mistake for which she apologised.

I am sorry that further to this your trip was unable to operate. We do require minimum numbers in order to operate our trips and although we would love to, it is not always possible for us to contact every customer when trips aren’t able to operate. For this reason we do ask all guests to reconfirm their activities 24 hours prior. This is written in your confirmation email. Safety is our number one priority and as such we won’t operate a helicopter if the conditions are not deemed safe by our pilots. It may have appeared calm on the ground however this is not a reflection of the wind speed at altitude.

If you would like to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact us
