this hotel was amazing. very close to everything we needed. harder to get to than normal due to some roadworks. view was amazing over the lake, which we were able to sit on our private balcony and enjoy. upgraded to better room due to an issue with the booking but staff were friendly and understanding. lobby was amazing and food offered was outstanding. laundry facilities were well welcomed after being away from home for over a week. Easy to navigate around the hotel, very comfortable bed and bathroom was large and accommodating. would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in a high end hotel. stayed in November 2011, but only recently signed up to site.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom lake view apartment and the finish and style of the accommodation was just fantastic. All the little creature comforts you expect in a hotel of this type - gas fire place, full kitchen, heated tiles, beautifully appointed bathroom and lounge area. The hotel is about 30 min walk from Queenstown city centre, along side the lake. The surrounds were breathtaking and the area was quiet. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. I would recommend the Rees Hotel and Luxury Apartments to anyone going to Queenstown. We will definitely be staying again.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money and get the Lake View room or apartment, you won't be disappointed!

This was a very, very nice hotel. The room was spacious, comfortable and had a beautiful view of the lake. There was a laundry room so you can wash and refresh all your clothes to be ready for the next leg of your journey. Breakfast was buffet plus your other items off menu were cooked to order, all delicious. There is a path from the hotel down to the lake and from there a path that leads over to Queenstown. It gently circles the lake and could lead you to the gardens if you veered that way. We took it more or less straight into town ( approximately a half hour easy stroll). Lovely hotel with a lovely view! We traveled April of 2013 but it wasn't listed as a choice.

Room Tip: Ask to face the lake.

This is a beautiful hotel right by the lake. The lobby is cozy and warm with a wonderful view of the lake. The room we had (executive lake view) is well appointed with a jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The room had a balcony with a great view of the lake. Our rate included breakfast which was made to order with several choices. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Some caveats...this property is not in downtown Queenstown which is a short 5 minute drive away but the hotel has a shuttle every hour to and from downtown. The rooms vary in size and include some apartments. The layout can be confusing. The lobby is on the 7th floor (street level). Our group had two rooms, one can be reached only by walking through the car park. Otherwise, I think this is a great place to stay in Queenstown.

Stayed here as a family of 4 for 8 nights over the ski season. The apartments are located a little out of town but with a car no problems. The location overlooking the lake is beautiful and we had a lovely view to wake up to each morning. Staff friendly, helpful and the rooms are spacious and clean - very well equipped kitchen too.
Note though if travelling with kids that the 2 bedroom apartments do not have a bath which was disappointing, especially as the property does not have a pool/spa which is always welcome after a days skiing. Staff did offer to move us to an executive 2 bedroom which does have a bath but at an extra cost of $600 over the 8 nights we didn't feel it was worth it.
The food and service in the restaurant onsite excellent. Would stay again - but next time would ask for an apartment with a bath!

Room Tip: Paying a little extra for Lake View rooms a must.

The Rees is a beautiful place to stay. We stayed in a very spacious three bedroom apartment with amazing views of the lake. It was spotlessly clean and the decor was beautiful. Great bathrooms and fully equipt kitchen with laundry. We also had a huge balcony! The service was professional and friendly. They offer a free shuttle around Queenstown but on more than one occasion we took the taxi boat from the Rees pier across the lake to the Queenstown pier.

We had very mixed feelings about this hotel, where we stayed for 6 nights. The restaurant was rather pretentious and not very good, and the architect needs shooting. However, the views across the lake were stunning. We had a two bedroom apartment, and as we were on a long trip it was very nice to have laundry and cooking facilities. After trying, and being unimpressed, with the hotel breakfast, we made our own breakfast in the room each morning. We also cooked our evening meal on a couple of nights to avoid the slog into town. We would not have wished to stay in the apartment with 4 people as the second bedroom was small and dark, but with wardrobes in both bedrooms, and a bathroom each, the two of us we were very comfortable. However, the housekeeping was very hit and miss and we had to do a lot of chasing to get replacement supplies for both the dishwasher and the washing machine. It was also odd to have to walk through the carpark to access the room. Worst of all, the road to the garage was between our apartment terrace and the lake. Why didn't the architect put the living accommodation on the lakefront, and the car access behind?
