Such an understated little shack, but situated right on the lake with the most perfect views of the mountains possible! Great food, service was a little bit rude but who cares really, it was still amazing :) AND it wasnt crazily overpriced like everything else in NZ, $2 for a can of drink and $5 for a carton thing of chips :)

Great place for a simple meal. Good value for money. Try the steamed mussels with sweet chilly sauce, at $12 for 14, and the oysters, either raw or deep fried. Very carefully cooked and it's taste is heavenly. The place is just outside the Queenstown garden, at the lakeside.

Often disappointed with takeaway fish & chips but not here. Tasty, not greasy and reasonably priced. Buy your meal then pop across to eat at the lake edge. Perfect.

We came across this place by accident on our first day in Queenstown. Our normal meal times were all awry and we wanted something light to see us through to the evening meal. So we shared a fish and chips meal and were very impressed. The best part was the fresh and succulent fish. The word shack describes Aggies better than restaurant - it is reminiscent of the better hawker stalls in Asian countries. There was a strong wind blowing and only outside seating but we luckily found a place to eat round the side. Definitely worth a return visit.

If you are looking for a restaurant-style environment, forget it! It is as what the name indicates - it's literally a shack like, if not booth-like "hawker-style" eating place. But the view is good. So are their fish & chips, mussels and oysters. But avoid the "mutton birds" - the meat is way too gamey and tough, and the smoked eels were forgettable. But if you want something quick, decent and affordable, try Aggy's Shack. Otherwise there are many other choices in Queenstown.
