We booked initially for 6 nights. After an unsatisfactory and shortened stay at a B & B in Wanaka we extended our stay to 7 nights; then to 8 nights. This should give clues about our reactions to Pounamu.
Firstly, with respect, ignore the advice posted elsewhere on Tripadvisor about any one unit being any better than any other similar unit in the same block. The apartments are laid out along the top [inland] side of the Frankton Road, before it heads down into Queenstown. Those in Block 1 are nearer to Queenstown and afford fine views in that direction; those in Block 3 are turned away from the general direction of Queenstown and have great views of The Remarkables. All three blocks have basement parking and two floors of apartments. Our Block 3 one bedroom first floor apartment had a lock off studio unit accessible from the same entry area - remember this as you read on! We would book this floor again as its height tends to lift your eye level well above the road below.
The apartments are high quality and superbly maintained; it’s as simple as that! The equipment level throughout is impressive including underfloor heating and free internet access. Been on the road and want a break from restaurants? Yup, we did - the kitchen area was a real pleasure to use. Prefer to vegetate? The quality sound and vision systems will assist.
Some muffled road noise might be discernable by some residents, though the quality double glazing might eliminate this as an issue for many people. Maybe one of us is a light sleeper as some disturbance was noted on our second night. When mentioned to the Managers the solution was simple - for a negotiated and sensible additional cost we accessed the adjoining studio apartment and created a 2 bedroom apartment. Result - no noise - at all. And then we extended our booking…again.
The managers are top class, very professional, fussy in a good way, and perceptive about their apartments’ cleanliness and presentation. Oh, er… do watch out for Leo unless you have a matching line in corny jokes or instant repartee [G’day Leo!].
Next time we go to Queenstown it’ll be bargaining time for an upper floor two bedroom apartment.

These apartments are really well appointed and have many extras. The view over the lake was superb, and it was so nice to sit in the warmth while looking at the fresh snow that had dropped over night. Loved having nice cooking facilities complete with all the utensils required. There was completely separate living facilities for 2 couples in our apartment. Enjoyed watching movies with the big telly and the surround sound. The standard of cleanliness was second to none.

There were four adults in our group, and all of us loved the apartments. We arrived after five days of treking, hiking and travelling, so the modern amenities of the apartments were more than welcomed. It was great to have an in-room washer and dryer for the dirty clothes, and the computer with internet was a great way to catch up on email and news. The apartment had a spectacular view and was a 15 minute walk to the heart of Queenstown.

The staff were fantastic, as well. Would definitely recommend this place for a group or a family.

Fantastic location - 15mins walk from centre of town; amazing design - functional (steam-proof bathroom mirror), computer AND free Internet; great view of lake; cheap and very comfortable.
If all hotels were like this, the world would be a better place!

This place is amazing! We were on a busy schedule whilst in Queenstown but it was lovely to come back to our gorgeous apartment at the end of the day. We didn't want to leave again to go out to dinner! The apartments are beautifully set up & the views are incredible. Great privacy. Definatly recommend for everybody! By far the best place to stay in Queenstown.
