One of Invercargill's iconic structures...The only Basillica standing in the South Island now that Christchurch's is destroyed.
As a kid I remember it sat in the middle of a huge concrete piazza square, a perfect four sided structure with it's mighty copper dome.
The reciently added entrance portico onto Tyne street, in my humble opinion, has totally ruinned it's neat look, but in Invercargills weather, a neccessity.
Still, one of NZ's best examples of spiritial architecture.
