Playground is great, however the glass houses full of plants and the birds are just amazing - a real credit to Invercargill!!

“An amazing park in a little city!”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

We loved the aviary! It's small, but not to be missed. Also, visit the FREE Southland museum and be sure to say hello to Henry, the Tuatara (he's over 125 years old!) I loved the formal english croquet field too, what a hoot (for an American).

“Don´t Miss This Free Park”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

The park is quite extensive and has many features of interest: two fantastic rose gardens, several aviaries, one of which the public can enter, a winter garden with a fish pond, a duck lake, and a Japanese garden (no water, just raked gravel). Thoroughly recommendable.

“Extensive and beautiful park”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

We only had time to visit a small section of the park but were very impressed with the parts we saw, including the bird aviary, the greenhouse and the Japanese Garden. The Exceloo was entertaining because of the continuous horrible music and the worry it caused when the toilet paper wouldn’t come out and the water wouldn’t turn on. It was an experience, but give me a standard toilet any day.

“Relax and enjoy”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

There are many entrances to the park. A great idea as the access from several different streets means, regardless of age or physical ability anyone can enjoy the the gardens, the events, leisure walking, running, refreshments, friendly people and so on. It's great to see families and friends meeting and enjoying the magnificant park.
