We flew directly to Invercargill so this was our early introduction to New Zealand's outdoors. December delights included 30' tall rhododendrons, extensive rose garden, and immense hedges -- which we were to see later throughout the South Island. Great place for photography without having to stop the car along the road. Nice aviary too.

This is an absolute "must visit" park during your time in Invercargill. My husband and I spent several hours strolling though the grounds enjoying the beautiful rose gardens, the aviary, the animals and many other delights.

We were hugely disappointed with Invercargill overall, but Queens Park was the exception. Beautiful park, beautifully maintained. Well worth spending several hours in.

Situated at the end of Southlands Museum, this was a place of beauty. The rose gardens had just began to wilter when we visited, but were still a joy. The old trees were amazing, and make excellent photography shots.
Do enjoy the variety of birds in the Avairy, and the Japenese Garden. Ideal for old and young alike.
This a place of calm and enjoyment, a must visit if in the vicinity
