What is it with New Zealand that every city seems to have a museum that can easily compare with the big and famous out there! Invercargill museum impressed us with its exhibition of the history of Southland Times newspaper, and so much more. Right behind is Queens Park and both together make for a very nice day out.

Tuatara, Burt Monroe and a very nice cafe. Great place for a lunch break. Not your typical museum. Good local art, as well.

The tuatara here are a knock-out attraction. I counted over a dozen, all sizes, just poking their heads out of burrows or lying around above ground, watching me. Henry's 3 babies, born in March, were just irresistibly cute.
Although I went to see (and enjoyed) the Art Gallery, the beauty and uniqueness of tuatara is the main reason not to miss visiting here!

For all those motor bike aficionados, a visit to the museum is a must if only to check out Bert's Indian Scout. First class and a great opportunity to meet the locals!
