Description: We have a lovely warm and inviting restaurant. We use all locally sourced product with very generous servings with an emphasis on the meat portion of the meal. Our steaks are 250gms up to the "Donald Trump Choker", which is 500gm and cooked slowly over 20 hours. We use fresh Blue Cod and locally caught wild Venison. Buster Crabb is the best choice

This is a good venue with an interesting interior decor which always help set the scene. The food here is extremely good, small appetites beware, an entree size might be enough! Large main courses with good variety are the basis for the menu. Prices are reasonably high with mains between appx $33 to $39 however the steak I had was enormous, impossible to finish my plate. The owner runs excellent restaurants locally and the only real downfall for them was the very surly waitress who completely failed to engage with our table of 8 the entire evening.

Halfway through our campervan holiday of South Island, we decided to treat ourselves with a slap-up meal at a proper restaurant. We were slightly grimy and dressed in fleeces and baseball caps, and yet we were warmly welcomed at the rather posh looking (and oddly named!) Buster Crabb and shown to a table. We ordered the seafood chowder and the duo of lamb to share, and both were simply delightful. The portions were generous and the beer and wine selection was simply fantastic. The Husband had a glass of the locally brewed dark stout, which he proclaimed to be better than Guinness (high praise, as we’re both loyal subjects of the Dark Pint!) and the pinot noir from a nearby vineyard was terribly cheerful.

The service was attentive and genuine, and our questions about local produce and ingredients were happily answered. We had not planned on dessert, but a warm chocolate confection seemed too good to pass up.. The warm chocolate brownie was simply luscious, much to the delight of my sweet-toothed better half, and in the absence of a dessert wine, a tasty Riesling was offered up as a substitute. All in all, it was a perfect way to end the meal.

The restaurant itself is rather dark and dimly lit, but we rather liked the effect of the sweeping drapes and mood lighting.. Definitely a restaurant worth returning to.

Went here for Sunday Brunch with a small group of friends. Very loud atmosphere and sadly we were all very disappointed with the food. The Breakfasts were over cooked, messy looking and small for the price. But the Waitress tried hard to be friendly despite her obvious lack of training. Shame.

This is a newish restaurant and was recommended by our motel hosts. Pity about the service and food! Someone has done a great job setting it up to a very high standard. It was quite busy for early in the week. They must have had a real battle with the local planning authorities judging by all the carparking out the back.

Our waitress must have been new and did not know the menu or the beer/wine list. Apparently, they had run out of wedges and we could only have chips – who runs out of wedges?

It has a great bar and some good and local beers on tap. A real feature. We had the Bluff oysters, as we were keen to try them. We then both ordered Bangers & mash, which was a disaster. We were expecting dinner sausages but got a highly spicy, kransky/spanish sausages, which neither of us could finish and, in our opinion, not suited to such a meal.

Maybe our experience was a one off and I hope it goes well.
