We decided to get take away for the family, so we ordered two large pizzas a carbonara and creamy Parmesan ravioli, we felt that this order should have been enough to share with four adults, we walked home with our pasta in a paper bag and pizzas in arm.

We now know why the pasta was in a paper bag, it was so we wouldn’t realise how we had been ripped off until we got home. $17.90 for an entree sized portion of ravioli that even a child would have been disgruntled over is not what we consider value for money.

So back down to Zucchini Bros we marched to ask for $17.90 worth of tortellini or our money back, convinced that there must have been some kind of mistake! But to our surprise this was no mistake, not only was it not a mistake but she has had this complaint many times before apparently many people have complained about the portion size of the so called “Main” meal.

Not only did the woman disagree that it is unacceptable but tried to convince us that this is the best and the finest quality. My response to her was “so this carbonara is not to the equal quality of the ravioli?” as we have about 5x the amount of carbonara to ravioli. The woman’s response was “but this is ravioli” as to say it was some mystical exotic food, It was clear to us that nothing we said was going to make her see sense so we took our money back and she insisted we keep the ravioli in a hope that we would see “sense”.

As for the pizzas they weren’t awful but pretty average for $28 and I personally have made better carbonara. And for the ravioli made with the “finest ingredients” two of us wouldn’t even eat it as they did not like it and I found it to be of a pretty average standard for what you would expect for ravioli. Never going back again and I am utterly shocked that people keep paying outrages prices for this average Italian food.

“Atmosphere and good food”
Reviewed December 18, 2012

First visit and graduation night was very busy. Staff managed the situation very well - attentive, good service at every stage. Food yum - I really enjoyed pasta with lemon, shrimp and peas - maybe not strictly authentic but very tasty. The other pasta with pesto was also very easy to eat. Reasonably priced. Definitely a place to return to

“Good simple food but not real "Italian" pizza”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

Nice little neighborhood restaurants worth lovely vibe and friendly staff. We had pizza which was ok, but not as good as we ahd expected based on the reviews. More the "traditional" NZ pizza - with slightly over the top toppings and not that authentic. But it tasted good and the overall evening was fun and easy.

“Great pizza and good pasta at reasonable prices”

The pizza is delicious. This is a small, relaxed restaurant in the charming Roslyn neighborhood. It is BYO, and New World Market and Fresh Choice are right across the way (for those who prefer to bring their own wine). Ample street parking.
