I really can't fault Plato. Sure it's not on the high street (which meant that the clientelle were far more interesting and varied than the usual coach load tourist brigade) but worth the short walk over to the harbour side.

Rather than being embarrassed by the somewhat unassuming frontage, the restaurant has positively embraced the retro look with displays of 70s gadgets and ornaments.

Food choice was extensive and all our choices were excellent (I'm generally pretty critical so this is high praise). Waiting staff were seamless from the waitress on her first night to the two owners that both served us chatting pleasantly about the food and their approach.

Highly recommended.

They do everything so well here. Wait staff is great, service fantastic, food so good. If it's one of those days when you don't want to take risk with ur food, this is the place to go.

While providing a choice of the day's catch alongside a choice of the method of preparation seafood is not the only thing they do well. We keep going back and love it. The decor could do with a refresh but is certainly quirky.

Located in a old office building near the harbor, this quaint/quirky establishment serves very interesting food. Locally sourced, and prepared ala nouvelle, everything we ordered was great. The service was good and the prices a bit high but worth it. The collection of kitsch throughout the interior was fun to look at. Reservations are recommended.

For something different, try Plato. From the outside it looks a little unusual, then once you go inside it looks even more unusual. But the quirky surrounds make the place feel relaxed and the staff are exceptionally friendly, happy, helpful and efficient.
The food is great. Mainly seafood but with heaps of variety.
Desserts are terrific. The pannacotta is divine.
I intend to return there often.
