We offer a wide range of species to choose from, Blue Cod, Sole, Monk and Gurnard just to name a few. Choose to have your fresh fish beer battered, crumbed or grilled (for those looking for a healthy option).Team this with your choice of shoestring, chunky McCain's fries or Kumera fries (sweet potato), a variety of sauces or pick from the range of fresh salads to create your ideal fish and chip meal.If you want to get a bit fancy or try something different there's also calamari rings, scallops, sweet chilli prawn skewers or salt n pepper squid to name a few of your options and if you need something to quench your thurst. Local ales such as the classic southern Speights or Emersons are available along with a fine pick of wines and non alcoholic beverages.Locally owned and operated. Take away or sit in and enjoy a warm friendly atmosphere in the heart of Dunedin city.

“Great feed of Fish and Chips”

We enjoyed a casual meal of fish and chips. Fish was fresh, light batter. It would have been 5 * if the chips were not frozen .

“Great value, fab freshness, well cooked”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2014

Recommended to come here by local motel and we were not disappointed. Its a fish and chip shop with a few tables and chairs and keg beer with a few bottles of wine available. Nothing pretentious. But boy is it worth it. Fresh fish caught that day(or maybe the day before ) by dad and his mates, straight into the fryer. And so keenly priced. Excellent and should become second Dunedin highlight after the Albert Ross's(or should that be albatrosses?)

“Great fish”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2014 via mobile

We ordered monk fish and another we had never heard of- very delicious. Apparently you can ask how they cook it but ours arrived battered and we were not offered any choice. But well cooked- slightly under so it was still juicy! Chips very mediocre- of the frozen rather than freshly prepared. We ordered one 2 scoop portion but charged for 2x 1 scoop portion as this was more expensive. Not a massive deal but felt overcharged as we were not local. Plus e chips were not even that nice. But would recommend the fish.

“Well Worth A Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2013

During a 12-day cruise, we held off until the sixth day to try a fish & chip shop. We selected this location based on the TA reviews. We were not disappointed.

Wife had the sole & I had the blue cod. Both were prepared perfectly. Add in a large order of chips, and the total came in just under $20 NZ. A bargain based on various dining experiences in NZ & AU over three weeks.

Run by a family, service is friendly & attentive. Also was able to meet some locals while dining which is fun while travelling.

Nothing deluxe in location (make sure you have the address on George Street before venturing out, it is several blocks north of the Octagon), but I would go back in a heartbeat.

“Best in its class”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2013

Best fish and chips we had in a while. Lovely fish (we tried monk, sole and fish of the day) which were fresh to the max with a lovely batter. Fries were hot and delightful with both big and shoestring on offer. The sauces (just $0.5 per sauce) is a must try and are all very tasty. (Sweet chili aioli!)

There was refreshing water that we could help ourselves with. The service was great and the design, atmosphere complemented the food. Seems like what the local area enjoys.
