Owner description: The Otago Peninsula is a long, hilly indented finger of land that forms the easternmost part of Dunedin, New Zealand. Volcanic in origin, it forms one wall of the eroded valley that now forms Otago Harbour. The peninsula lies south-east of Otago Harbour and runs parallel to the mainland for 20 km, with a maximum width of 9 km. It is joined to the mainland at the south-west end by a narrow isthmus about 1.5 km wide.

Absolutely stunning. Both roads (top and bottom) are both very windy so mind the car sickness. Lots of things to do - Larnach Castle, Penguins+nature & the Albatross Colony.

We arrived in Dunedin as part of a tour taking this afternoon optional trip to the peninsula and what an introduction. Winding country road gives the sense of separation from city life [yet it's only a few miles away]. Beautiful scenery. Boat trip out into the bay to view seals, albatross and other wildlife with final sail back to the city centre. I'm a northern hemisphere man - can I come back please!

Well worth the winding drive for spectacular views and the chance to see penguins, albatrosses and fur seals.

I spent manny sundays with family and cousins here as my dad was bought up her. It was lovely to climb the hill on teh Opiho side to see the magnificant views. Lovely to catch up with my auntie who is still liveing inthe quiet Broad Bay. Great roads to travel on aroound teh coast. Just take care of the speed and cliff.

This is a very interesting area. Penguin Place was excellent, Monarch cruises for albatross and the Portobello Motel was very good indeed.
