“Great visit”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

A wonderful museum. Very informative displays with lots of history. Interesting presentations on how New Zealand became populated. Interesting displays about the Moa, the extinct, flightless bird. Great place for adults and children

“Great Musuem with Butterflies”
Reviewed July 17, 2013 via mobile

Very interesting museum about New Zealand and loads of Maori carvings and artifacts. Could gave spent longer here but the teenage part of the group had other ideas!

An interesting annex is the Discovery World Tropical Forest which is full of colourful butterflies and even a waterfall. There is an entrance fee but we all considered it worthwhile. After all entrance to the museum is free. There is also a nice cafe here. Well worth a visit when in Dunedin.

“Wonderful Place to Visit”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

We stopped by this museum for a quick look and ended up touring the whole museum for hours. It gives so much information on how the area was settled all the way to modern days. One of the best museums we went to in NZ!

“Tropical Forest Visit”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

We mainly went to take the kids to the butterfly enclosure so didn't get to see much of the museum part. The kids loved all the interactional activities before you even get into the tropical forest. Butterfly enclosure was great, very warm. Learnt a lot about the butterflies and they also had a hatching part where you can see butterflies transform, thought this was amazing. Both kids aged 3 and 5 loved it, but think they preferred the activities beforehand. Would recommend on a rainy day. Went to the café afterwards, very nice food - good variety.

“Great place on a cold day”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

Only one word of warning; it is so cold outside and so warm and humid inside that taking photos for sometime is going to be difficult in the butterfly house. The staff was attentive, helpful and with insight. Outside the butterfly house, the exhibits was interesting and intriguing. The small Hillary items were moving. Worthy of some time.
