My sister and her husband came on their first visit to New Zealand for a family wedding, as they both have an interest in wine we went for the Central Otago Taster with Tasty Tours. Janine managed to accommodate our needs, especially as my sisters stay here was so short there was just the three of us so it was more like a private tour, which was great for us. Janine is a fantastic guide and was very knowledgeable on varies topic throughout the day. We especially enjoyed the lunch at Northburn Station and the excellent glass of Pinot Noir, we also visited 3 further wineries for tastings and they all had something different to offer. It was a very enjoyable day and my sister and her husband were able to experience the wonderful Central Otago scenery with the added bonus of wine tasting.Thank you Janine Rosemary,Wendy and Mick

We had the best day ever with Janine our fantastic she made sure we fitted in as much as we could and matched the day to suit our likes. We had the best lunch with lovely food and so relaxing. Everything was done for us so we could enjoy the sights. In the afternoon we visited an ice creamery, went to see how beer was made and then had a wine tasting at a great cafe. It wasn't just the things we knew we were going to see that was the highlight it was all the extra touches Janine added. We went to great look out points so we could see the views plus heaps more. I would recommed this tour for the great personal service.

As we arrived into Port Chalmers there on the port was waiting our gorgeous guide for the day Janine with a little welcome and Christmas choccie (now who doesn't like starting the day out like that). What we packed into our day was amazing and everything we asked for we got and so much more. Janine was knowledgeable about Dunedin and surrounding areas, she knew exactly where to take us to show off this marvelous City. I should tell you all that I used to live in the city but saw so much more than I knew existed. We saw the new rugby stadium - a must for all sports fans, then a tour of the University - marvelous for the budding architects amongst us, saw the world's steepest street - Baldwin, then off to the brewery. Well worth the investment for a guided tour by a lovely gentleman who worked there years ago. We visited the beaches, drove along the high road and then did a very private viewings of old homes and most importantly was able to fit in a quick shoe shop.

Janine was so obliging, courteous and kind, never without a smile and a laugh. So worth the money that we paid. We didn't have to walk at all - Janine was there with the car and always holding the door open for us to hop in.

Although we wanted to get a few things from the supermarket on the way back to the ship, it was nearing our end of tour time at 5.00pm - however Janine did not mind the little over time she spent with us and although 2 days before Christmas, was telling us to take our time.

Don't hesitate to book this young lady if you are visiting Dunedin. She is a marvel.

Janine was amazing, catering to our every need. For my wife, she was very comfortable knowing that if she needed to stop for a rest stop we were only moments away. For me whenever I saw something I wanted to photograph there was no problem stopping for some pictures. These two items aside along with the great service and curtsy the tour itself was great fun and a learning experience. It featured local food and wine at a fantastic restaurant Carey Bay Hotel this was so well thought out and expertly crafted meal we both enjoyed thoroughly. Touring the country side was fabulous we were lucky with great weather for photos and again Janine would stop anytime I saw something I wanted to photograph. Also of great interest was the cloud forest experience at Orokonui ecosanctuary a great walk through the sanctuary which caters to native birds while protecting them from large and small mammals. We had a great guided tour and a breakfast tea experience all of local plants and animals. If you have an opportunity to take this tour, do, you will not regret the day spent at your own pace along with great food, tour guide and sites to see.

As Dunedin and Otago residents who know the area, we highly recommend Tasty Tours. They offer tours which allow you to see the main attractions but also provide personalised tours to out-of-the-way wineries, fooderies and such like.

As locals we have already been to most of the main attractions in the region so we decided to try the Central Otago Taster tour. Now we have sampled many of the culinary delights of the Central Otago region before, yet Tasty Tours were still able to provide an interesting, unique and enjoyable day tour for us.

We were picked up on time in the morning by Janine, the owner-operator. Janine is very knowledgeable about the area and the places that she took us to and was able to answer the many questions that we threw at her as she was driving. We made the signature coffee stop in Lawrence (a nice place to stop) before hitting Central Otago and our first winery stop around 11am.

We visited four wineries in total during the day which is a good number as you get to try enough different variations in wine (we tried over 20 wines) without trying to squeeze in too much in one day. I believe Janine varies the exact winery stops depending on availability; but the ones we stopped at were Three Miners, Northburn Station, Bald Hills and Akarua. We also had a gourmet lunch at Northburn Station which was a beautiful location with stunning views. There was opportunity for additional stops along the way (if you need them, e.g. toilet stops, photo opportunities, food/wine purchasing). Janine was very accommodating and made every effort to personalise the day's tour to our requirements.

One of the noticeable features of the wine tasting element of the day was the thought that Tasty Tours had clearly put into ensuring that we would be trying different varieties of wine at each of the different wineries, e.g. one winery might present you with a tasting of sauvignon blanc and pinot noir, the next might focus on a dry riesling and a rose etc. It keeps you interested and it means that you're not simply trying 20 different varieties of one grape, which could get a bit tedious for some people.

The best thing about choosing Tasty Tours is that they have already done the thinking and planning for you - so you don't have to - you just show up on the day and sit back and enjoy. It doesn't matter whether you are here on holiday or a born and bred Kiwi. Of course you could try and research places on the internet yourself and attempt to construct your own tour but (1) why go to all that hassle; (2) you could show up at places that are closed/unhelpful/just not very good; and (3) who is going to drive you (and pay the petrol costs!).

Janine can also get you into wineries that aren't normally open to the public for a truly unique tasting experience. All of these things are what you are paying for - so don't just look at the tour price as it covers a lot of stuff. And don't forget the gourmet lunch that's included on the Central Otago tour - lots of interesting and tasty food to try too!

We highly recommend Tasty Tours to anyone who wants to go on a unique tour of the Dunedin and Central Otago area - it is a beautiful part of the world so you should book your tour with someone like Janine and her team who can do it justice!
