“A real find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013

This restaurant is tucked away in a corner of Maori Hill, well off the beaten tourist track. The food is outstanding, the ambiance very pleasing, and the service excellent. It's a treasure café/restaurant that would normally only be known to locals. I've never been disappointed with the food I've had there. What's more, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The prices are competitive, not prohibitive. I find the place hard to resist.

“Charmer in Maori Hill”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013

If only this had been here when we lived down the road ... on a return trip to Dunedin we had a marvelous brunch here. Service was swift, friendly and efficient, loved the big windows looking out to Mt Cargill. Salmon, eggs, and coffee were welcome after Mr SH-J's function the night before. This is the perfect suburban cafe.

“My favourite Dunedin Restaurant.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2013

Word of mouth led us to make a booking at this delightful little restaurant when we visited Dunedin recently. We were not disappointed. The food and service were really good. It's located on Maori Hill, a 5 minute taxi ride from the central city. We will most certainly dine here again!

“What a Gem!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2013

This place had been recommend to us by several people. Finally we went there and it was great to I want to "pass it on". It is a little gem. Great friendly, well informed and superbly trained staff. The food was great - not a hugely extensive menu but very well thought out. There was a little but - the baked Alaska was disappointing as I thought it was poorly constructed. I mentioned that to the waitress and said she should pass it on to the chef. I was giving constructive criticism not a complaint. She was great about it and was more than generous. Overall, going to go back again and again, great place. Do visit No 7 Balmac.

“Reviews lead us here”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013 via mobile

Reading the reviews convinced us to go there tonight.
The restaurant was almost full which is always a good sign. Well worth it. Hubby really enjoyed the lamb. Dessert was great. All well presented.
