We started our holiday in Dunedin staying at Arts Content as we felt it'd be a good place to chill and get over the jet lag that we were sure to suffer after 36 hrs travelling, and we were not wrong. Cathy & Alex are incredibly nice people and welcomed us into their warm and cozy self-contained cottage in Company Bay. A little way out of Dunedin, the local bus served us well prior to picking up our rental car and we enjoyed seeing the local area as we travelled around the Peninsula into the centre of Dunedin. The cottage is lovely, a perfect size for two and has everything you can possibly need to be comfortable - a real home from home. The cozy bed gave us a good nights sleep with its beautiful bed linen and an electric blanket if the night was chilly - which it was. Kath's breakfast basket was also a real treat. Everything you could possibly want to start the day, and all pretty much home made or home grown. The bread and muffins in particular were a dream. The only down side to the cottage is the spiral stair case which, if you have dexterity problems could be an issue, but otherwise we'd highly recommend Arts Content, with its most beautiful garden which overlooks the sea.

Than you so much for your generous and positive review. You clearly enjoyed yourselves on the Peninsula and we are very happy that your stay with us contributed to the experience. We hope that the breakfast basket didn't increase your waistlines by too much. It's our belief that a hearty breakfast sets the tone for the day :o)

Thank you so much. This was the best accommodation we encountered during a five week tour of NZ. The view, warm hospitality and generous breakfast were all excellent. We wish we had been able to stay longer.

Room Tip: The steep spiral staircase is not suitable for all.

Cathy and Alex are wonderful. The space is very cozy and the view amazing. Staying in the Otago Peninsula, you really want to be near the water to enjoy the beauty and this place is definitely on the water. As others have mentioned, their garden is spectacular and something you'll enjoy as you enter your room. The location of this is also great for exploring the peninsula as it is right on the main highway but you don't really hear cars. Overall a wonderful value and great place to stay in this area.

This accommodation is more than just a B&B. It is self contained accommodation (adjacent to the hosts accommodation which was no problem at all) with a living area/kitchen upstairs and bedroom/bathroom downstairs. There is a spiral staircase downstairs so probably not suitable for the very elderly or infirm. The view from the living area is just like the photos - magnificent during the day and just as beautiful at night with the lights of Dunedin twinkling in the distance. Also, when we were there in December the gardens at the back and front of Arts Content were glorious. Alex and Cathy were wonderful hosts, very helpful and supplied a wonderful breakfast basket with freshly homemade bread, muffins, eggs, jam, yoghurt, fruit which they would continually fill with whatever we used. The homemade bread was so delicious, no wonder I put on weight. The location is great with easy access to the Albatross Centre, Larnach Castle, magnificent views from the top road of the peninsula and about 15 minutes from the centre of Dunedin. Cathy will give you all the information and maps when you arrive. We were very happy with our stay at Arts Content and considered it very good value.

After a very active but most enjoyable trip around North and South islands, we arrived at the Arts Content B&B, for the last three nights of our holiday and we couldn’t have chosen better. Our hosts, Cathy and Alex, made us feel at home from the moment we arrived and gave us so much information about places to see, things to do and where to eat. The breakfast basket more than met our needs. What we enjoyed the most about the B&B was that it has two rooms, the bedroom with ensuite downstairs, the lounge/kitchen/diner upstairs and the big deck at the front which gave a magnificent view of the harbour. It was nice to have the self contained privacy where we could just relax and be ourselves. We feel that the Arts Content B&B is excellent value for money. It’s certainly at the top of our list.

Thank you very much for your review and your kind words.
It's always our intention to provide a "home from home" and to give our guests as much information as we are able to help them about things to do, places to see and where to eat.
Our hope is that by helping you, your holiday will be enhanced - after all, you've come a long way and this may be the only time that you'll be be in New Zealand.
We've always felt that guests would appreciate having two rooms and the privacy that we feel is so important to guest comfort.
It is our prime consideration that our guests believe that they have had value for money.
