Anna and Peter were very welcoming to the three of us as we arrived at their attractive and warm cottage, surrounded by their wonderful garden set in a amphitheatre of regenerating native bush. Fortified with a cup of excellent tea, a slice of wonderfully fresh bread with home made apricot jam we set off to explore the garden which we noted contained Nikau palms! never seen before his far south. Truly a labour of love. On to the nearby Allan's Beach and a seal and penguin siting under oue belts we returned to use of Dany's Chef at Home service for a splendid dinner to round off a memorable stay.

My wife and I visited Dunedin earlier this year and spent 3 nights at this extraordinary escape from touristy hotels and high priced resorts. We truly loved the hiking, the hosts and the incredible beauty of the area surrounding this one of a kind experience. Anna & Peter have created a fantastic complement to their home site and gardens & were willing to share their spot in paradise for a couple days. The location of this home is a hilltop near their own home and provided the best of both privacy and accessibility. Daily delivered fresh bread and home grown eggs along with jams and cereal provided breakfast and Anna shared her knowledge of the area when we needed restaurant recommendations. The shower in the bathroom is one of a kind with it's sliding door to the great view out to Hooper’s Inlet. Standing on a hilltop as the sun breaks into the room while prepping for our daily excursions provided the most unique start to our day and gave us one of our favorite memories. Wildlife which is in abundance on the Otago Peninsula are very accessible for short day trips as are several tour operators if you'd like the guided version. If you're planning a visit to the Southern Scenic Route during your Kiwi excursion, make certain you set aside a couple nights to visit Hereweka Garden Retreat!!

A lovely retreat in a perfect setting, perched amongst forest and gardens above one of Otago Peninsula's inlets. The retreat itself is immaculate, recently built, with a good (gas) kitchen and bathroom, and a very comfortable bed. Anna and Peter were great hosts; we enjoyed their daily delivery of milk from the farmer's gate and freshly baked bread, as we did picking fresh herbs and vegetables from their garden for our dinner. Nearby Allan's Beach is rugged and beautiful, with rocky headlands and sleepy seals - well worth a visit (we made three). Highly recommended.

Anna and Peter created a wonderful peace of earth with an unique garden, a cosy cottage and peaceful atmosphere. For us it was a perfect place to stay there for the first 4 nights of our holiday to "come down", relax and think about something or nothing :o)
Walking through the amazing forest, explore the different smells of the blossoms, enjoy the singing of the birds, having an outdoor shower and look into the fireplace.... just enjoy
Wonderful breakfast with homemade muesli & eggs, yummi bread, orange juice,...

We just can hope that some more people are able to experience this "little paradise"!

We were astounded with the peace and tranquillity of this luxury accommodation set in bush in the Otago Peninsula. The standard of presentation, the beautiful home made breakfast, the wonderful views all made our short stay truly enjoyable. If you have the opportunity to stay here I highly reccommend it, but give yourself time to enjoy the walks in the bush, something we would have liked to have done but didn't have the time! Congratulations to Anna and Peter in accomplishing true luxury accommodation.

If you are visiting the Otago peninsular for the wildlife then this lovely eco accommodation will compliment your trip perfectly. The owners have gone to great lengths to have everything environmentally friendly and have situated the retreat in a great regenerating forest. The kitchen has everything you need and the bed with view, wonderful. Showering with the sliding door open brings the outside in! The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean. Couldn't fault the place.
