This definitely was one of the most tranquil and beautiful places we stayed in. Emma ensured that we did not have to go out for anything at all.
A disclaimer - the cottage is not very prominent on the Blackhead and not too easy to find either. You might also be under-whelmed by the entrance to the garden and cottage area. But once in, you soon realize that its nice little quiet place just 10 mins away from Dunedin city centre. Otago Peninsula is also only a half an hour drive (Royal Albatross Centre will take you 40mins from here).
Emma has really given good thought into making the cottage comfortable for her guests. Everything that you could think of, was available inside. The breakfast spread that she had kept ready was sumptuous.
We were pleasantly surprised to walk up the paddock right behind the cottage. When you reach the top, the views would take your breath away. While living in the cottage, you never realise that there is such a fantastic spot just overhill - a stone's throw away. Emma also invited us to visit her huge farm right across the road. Must say - we came out jealous of her for living a tranquil, self-contained life so close to a bustling town.
When in Dunedin, and looking for a quality time - look nowhere else.
Thanks for being a lovely host Emma. We'll surely be back!

We stayed only one night here, mainly to go on the Taieri Gorge Railway the next morning. Next time we'd use it as a base to do more things in the Dunedin area. It took us only about 15 minutes to drive to the Dunedin railway station. The cottage was ideal and the breakfast supplies were excellent. That breakfast set us up for the day. The view from the hill behind the cottage was spectacular, if very windy, and the whole feel of the place was very relaxing and rural. We'd stay here again very happily. Emma was very polite and helpful, both before and after our arrival.

We had to spend a bit of time trying to locate this place as the signage wasn't prominent enough (at least for us). Initially we had thought it was the house that was on the very top of the hill around the area!

Emma was very prompt in replying my mails way before we went over, and was just as nice in person. Enjoyed the stay at the place, though it did get a bit chilly in the living room area when we were there. Appreciative of the fact that Emma had loaned us a portable burner so that we could cook our meals in the cottage. And of course, we enjoyed ourselves watching the sheep opposite the place and walking up the paddock for the spectacular views. The cottage was well stocked with whatever we needed, condiments, etc etc and a daily hearty breakfast that Emma provided us each daily.

Will love to come back here again in time to come :)

Thanks for your review and lovely comments. Since you stayed we have upgraded the insulation in the cottage and provided extra heaters. I'm not aware of any problems with warmth since then.

The Cottage can be tricky to find on a dark night, but I email directions to everyone on booking, which include a phone number to call if you are lost. GPS units often try to send up people up the neighbour's drive for some reason!

We had a lovely 4 night stay here. Emma looked after us very well with her lovely breakfasts everyday. The walk up the paddock was well worth it for the spectacular views. It was a very peaceful and enjoyable cottage to stay and relax.

We loved staying here. It is about a fifteen minute drive outside of Dunedin. It is a lovely cottage, Emma has thought of everything to make a stay more enjoyable. The breakfasts were a great way to start the day off. There were nice views out of each window, the sheep were fun to watch. A nice walk up the paddock and on top of the hill offers beautiful views. We were fortunate enough to join the hosts inside of their lovely home for a nice glass of wine. They are kind, caring and genuine people. We enjoyed our conversation with them. This is a nice, quiet place to stay. We will stay here again on another visit.

I just wished we'd booked for more than 3 days!

We were traveling with our 4 year old son and absolutely loved the place. The views are stunning out of every window, and the walk over the paddock to the ocean is breathtaking.

It is an excellent place to stay if you're visiting Dunedin. It's only 15/20 minutes out of the city but you feel like you're in the countryside.

The hosts are friendly and very helpful, the breakfasts are great. I can't wait to go back.
