Owner description: Explore an authentic example of a Chinese scholar's garden that celebrates the Chinese influence on Otago's history and heritage. The Garden Gift Shop offers the chance to find something culturally different while the Tea House allows you to take your taste buds on their very own tour of China. The garden is open every day expect Christmas Day. As one of only three gardens outside China and the only one in the Southern Hemisphere, it is a truly captivating cultural experience not to be missed.

Beautiful and serene place, ideal to sit down, chill, and drink a pot of tea.
My son enjoyed " adopting" / naming a gold fish and releasing in into the pond! That kept him entertained and happy while we enjoyed our tea.
The garden is the perfect complement to the Otago Settlers Museum.

The garden is tranquility itself and had a beautiful breeze on a very hot day. The information provided around the garden was very informative and there were lots of places to sit and contemplate. Take a pack lunch and enjoy.

I really like the atmosphere of both Chinese and Japanese gardens. The Dunedin gardens are constructed beautifully and create a serene atmosphere. However, if you've been to something similar before, you probably won't see anything new.

If I lived in Dunedin I would spend a lot of time here - lovely place to go just to think and it's quite incredible how many paths and twists and turns they have managed to get into a small space. You can see images in every rock.
