Wow. My husband and I are NOT B&B type people but this place may have changed my mind. We arrived here super late due to my inability to calculate distance and drive time. I felt terrible being so late but Jan and Mike were gracious hosts. The road around the peninsula is very windy and there was actually an accident that night so be cautious around the turns. I also used the visual of the Pudding Island to find the B&B since it was right around a corner and you can easily miss it. But once you find it you will not want to leave. We had the Starry Suite which I highly recommend. It is truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. Glass windows surround the room and even has a giant moving wall that is all glass. Your view from the bed is of the Pudding Island. Stunning. The bed is so comfortable you will not want to wake up! You also have a huge sitting area with a glass ceiling so you can view the stars on a clear night. The bathroom was well equipped and had a big bathtub and good shower. We had breakfast in the tower which was offered great views, a newspaper and a choice of sweet or savory breakfast…you can’t go wrong. Everything was wonderful. Fresh baked breads and an amazing kiwi jam! They also had the best Berman cats. I want one now. We only stayed 2 nights but I could have stayed much longer. It is a great location on the peninsula and you cannot beat the view!

As others have said, this B&B is a great place to stay. We really enjoyed our time here and should have stayed longer. Jan & Mike are really nice and took the time to find out what restaurants were open the night we were there (a bank holiday) and book us in somewhere. Jan's brekkie was fantastic and it is such a good idea that it is served in the tower which has fab views. Would really recommend this B&B.

We knew we we in for a special treat when we saw the yellow bicycle with a wicker basket as a road marker for the Yellow House. How clever!!! Jan and Mike are great hosts and the Yellow House is even more charming than the pictures. The bedroom and bathroom were clean, comfortable, warm and spacious. The house and grounds had so many beautiful features and details...the front gate, the flowers, the bedding, the painting throughout the house, the amazing breakfast tower . . . And the view of the peninsula from the front was unbelievable! Jan provided a huge, delicious, homemade breakfast for us that we enjoyed so much. And both Jan and Mike stayed up quite late with my husband who LOVES to talk! They really proved to be perfect hosts. We highly recommend this spot. It's one of those place you just can't forget and that you want to tell everyone about.

If I could only recommend one B&B in all of New Zealand to anyone traveling here, it would be the Yellow House B&B. We had an incredible 3 night stay in the Starry Suite.

WHAT A ROOM!!! The split level Starry Suite has a huge, incredibly comfortable bed with a fantastic view of Pudding Island. Adjoining the sleeping area is a large sitting room with a glass ceiling and folding french doors that open one wall out to lovely front garden. Blackout curtains give you plenty of privacy at night and you can star-gaze from the comfort of your toasty warm sitting room. There is a TV in the sitting area, but I can't imagine anyone ever turning it on.

5 or 6 steps up from the bedroom is a landing with modern and comfortable "his and hers" convertible chaise lounges / chairs. There is also a table for two and another wall of folding french doors that open out to a picnic table. The ensuite bathroom with HUGE 2-person jacuzzi tub and fluffy white towels is on this level as well.

Coffee and tea facilities are located in the hallway just outside the door and breakfast is served upstairs each morning. Jan is an incredible cook and welcomes you with relaxing music and a friendly smile each morning. Homemade jams accompany the selection of baked goods, fresh fruit and cereals and you have a choice between a sweet or savoury option for breakfast. We chose eggs bennie (divine), pancakes with rhubarb and pancakes with caramelized banana and bacon. YUM, YUM, YUM! The view from the turret is spectacular and the morning paper and a selection of CDs makes you feel right at home.

Jan and Mike are exceptionally friendly hosts and we enjoyed chatting with them in the evenings. They have thought of everything - they made dinner reservations for us one evening, provided us with a torch and offered to come pick us up if we decided we didn't want to make the 10 minute walk back in the dark. The next night they loaned us plates and condiments for our take away Fish and Chips. Jan made sure we were all set with our plans each morning and offered suggestions on things to do each day.

I would go back to the Yellow House B&B in a heartbeat and stay for a year if I could. I simply cannot recommend the Starry Suite highly enough.

The situation is idyllic on the otago penisular with a view across the inlet onto an island. The room had its own bathroom down the corridor, and the decor and furnishing in both was outstanding. Jan and Mike are the most sociable people without being in your face.Breakfast was served in a little turret room at the top of the house which was very quirky.Lovely breakfast and beverages available on tap. All in all a great stay. Oh, forgot to say just down the road to the albatross centre.

The Yellow House was the best place we stayed in NZ. Jan was a fabulous hostess, helpful but not at all obtrusive, and made us feel very welcome. The Starry Suite is huge - a wonderful bit of luxury to really help you relax - and we did with our books and a very good bottle of wine on both nights. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful, and the Yello House is prefectly to explore all the Peninsula and Dunedin had to offer. How I hope we will be back!
