We stayed at Hogwartz over Christmas and had a really nice stay. It was very quiet, particularly compared to other backpackers we stayed at. The rooms and facilities were well equipped and kept clean and the laundry service for the same price as coin operated was a nice perk. The deck was a great place to spend some time on Christmas day catching up on email. Note that you do need to negotiate some pretty steep hills to get to Hogwartz, but that is true of most of Dunedin.
