Just off the winding harbour road. We stayed two nights here to visit Dunedin on one side and the Royal Albatross Centre on the other side. Room with bay view (12m2) and shower room (4 m2), being just large enough, and a little balcony as well. There was an optional shared bathroom in the corridor with a large blue bubble bath, but we did not use it. The very old TV in our room had a rabbit ears antenna, but if you want more than the one local channel, you can use the large TV in the kitchen-breakfast and sitting room. The harbour is so quiet that you can hear at 05:00 hrs the slow freight train all the way from across the water rumbling past, about 2 km away. Downstairs a plentiful breakfast served by jolly Alex who entertained us with numerous funny jokes with every conversation topic. We were the only guests, but were served enough breakfast for six persons. You definitely don’t walk away hungry! Nearby restaurants are non-existence. The only one in Macandrew Bay was closed, but on the street corner there is a grocery store providing a few take-away dishes open till 19:00 hrs. Libby also filled our thermos bottle for the long journey to our next destination.
They promised to put a flyscreen on the bathroom ventilator.
