The Otago Golf Club is a few minutes from the centre of Dunedin in the Leith area, close to the botanic gardens. It is famous as the oldest club in the Southern Hemisphere. 1870 or thereabouts.
We thoroughly enjoyed our round. It began with the warmest of welcomes from the Professional and her staff.
I would say that this is a course that gets better and better as the round develops. The first is a tricky hole requiring accuracy and the next few holes are less dramatic, but then wow! The course just gets better and better with a long run of dramatic and memorable holes. Definitely worth a visit and very reasonable green fees.

Parkland course in good condition. We found the course very hilly, just as well we opted for a cart, something we rarely do. Had to get around quickly as there was a shotgun start at midday. Friendly staff in proshop. Coming from the Melbourne sandbelt, we found the greens a little slow, however they were very true and once we adjusted for speed, enjoyable. Some quirky holes, some blind shots, big drop-offs and 3 longish par 3s. Great course, but if you're not fit, hire a cart or electric buggy (trolley ?).

The new owners make you feel very welcome. You can hire a club for very little money and exchange it for another one at any time. It is not a fancy place but you find everything you need. The downhill slope is very well maintained and nice to play onto.
The about 10 booths are covered so you are well protected from rain and wind.
It's also a place where you can just go and give golf a try for the first time, e.g. on a rainy day, or if you are traveling and don't have the equipment.
We were traveling through and it was really nice to chat with the owner, who has been to many places too and knew some interesting and entertaining stories to tell.
