We stayed one night at the end of our trip to the south island and really appreciated the quality of this motel. A large room, comfortable beds, kitchen facilities, and above all, the washer and dryer which really came in handy. The TV was enormous. It's a very short walk to a selection of restaurants (we got delicious Thai takeaway and ate in the room). Inexpensive shuttle transport to the airport for the following morning was easily arranged with assistance from reception. We were very happy with this motel, all across the board.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor are accessed by staircases (no elevator), so keep this in mind if you have...

Very friendly and accommodating staff who went out of their way to assist when ever possible especailly given that they were not born and bred in Christchurch. The room was prepared as had been ordered and was spotlessly clean.

We really apreciated having our own facilities including a washing machine etc. With both a petrol station and supermarket opposite it was easy to stock-up our requirements. While being on a main road has some drawbacks in terms of traffic volume it made for easy access to travel to and fromm the destination we visited.

Still good value for money taking into consideration the situation that still exists in Christchurch at present.

I don't know what else you could possibly want from a motel. For the price, this place was perfect. Our room was spotless, large, and had comfy beds. The TV was huge and the kitchen had everything we needed. The washer and dryer even had a free laundry detergent packet placed next to it! Our room was obviously prepared with care, and we had a great stay. Thanks so much, Azena Motel!

Azena is a good value. The rooms are good-sized and include a kitchenette and free laundry. I was most impressed by how accommodating the owner was to us. We arrived in Chch early in the morning. We arrived at the Azena about 10:30 a.m. never expecting our room to be ready, but she made it happen. We were ready for a rest after the overnight flight from the US and her efforts were very much appreciated. My only quibble was traffic noise. The motel is located on a busy street, so traffic noise was present at some level all night. I solved the problem with earplugs. If you're a light to moderate sleeper, bring some. You'll be glad you did.

Room Tip: Get a room on the second level. Ground level rooms face the parking lot, so headlights shining thro...

Other reviewers have covered all the major points. We stayed in Room 1, closest to the road and reception. It was probably a Unit for the handicapped - the bathroom was ............ huge! The Motel is quite modern with a good-sized laundry, shower and kitchen. It is about 3k from city, just a bit too far to walk there and back. Some traffic noise, no aircon or screens - it had been 32c the day before!
Selection of restaurants, a pub and supermarket are three minute's walk away.
Comfortable, clean and good value.

Room Tip: Minimal traffic noise, but choose a room at the rear if that is of concern to you.

We arrived in Christchurch close to midnight, but had no trouble arranging access to our room at Azena; because so many flights from Australia seem to arrive in NZ late at night, they must be used to it! We regret that we didn't have more time to enjoy all the amenities this place had to offer. The location wasn't the most convenient to the airport, which is where we returned first thing in the morning to retrieve our rental car, and because we spent almost no time in Christchurch I can't comment on access to other Christchurch attractions. We were able to take a shuttle from the airport easily enough, and we enjoyed the conversation with our shuttle driver in both directions. Excellent value, especially if you want to cook a meal or do your laundry!

Very pleased with our choice here. Top quality at a very competitive price. Stayed for two days twice, at the start and end of our South Island visit. Very late check-in and then early check out were cheerfully catered for and we were twice given Room 15 which is the very last in the block, furthest from the road. Very well furnished in subtle tones, and fully-equipped. I could have done with an induction course in the many, many light switches, but eventually got it figured. In absolute contrast the bathroom has only two lights, one of which was blown, making it a very dark and dim space. Request the next day for replacement light was followed up whilst we were out! Loved the very large TV on the wall, and the opportunity to play DVDs. Very comfy beds, and top quality linens and quilts. Location is very convenient, on the road north from CBD and just a 5 minutes drive to the centre. We strolled in once, in 20 minutes. Free parking is a bit tight, but it's not a problem - passengers need to get out first, is all. The motel is almost right across from a large service station with shop, and next door to that is a very big supermarket. In the same area, just 100 meters' walk, there are very good restaurants, one Thai, one Japanese and one Indian, and there's a pub too. Fush'n'chups just up the road. The staff are cheery and helpful, and do a great job keeping the place spotlessly clean. Highly recommended and deserves to get higher in the TA listings. Many thanks for a very comfortable stay!
