We arrived late in the afternoon and found both apartments we had booked were on the second floor of the 7 story apartment building.
One apartment was facing the multi story carpark at the rear of the building. It was dark , and smelt of mildew . I suspect it hadnt been used for some time. The hall way also smelt and there was plaster missing from the walls -I assume earthquake damage.

As we were unable to contact anyone (it was now after hours and the phone went to message )we left hoping to get a refund for our two night stay . The manangement subsequently agreed to refunding 50% after our booking agent steping in to assist us
The rooms facing the street may well be more pleasant .
The area however is not as it borders the CBD and is surrounded by domoltion work

Room Tip: Ensure you are at a higher level with an outlook

I regularly stay here on business, usually 1 or 2 nights for each visit.

I prefer these apartments as they are as close to the 'closed off' CBD area as is possible - this won't be to everyone's taste as you have a bird's eye view of the damage and destruction and can regularly hear the demolition activity sometimes early in the morning or late into the evening.

I wouldn't let this put you off though, it is a fact of life in Christchurch these days. I've stayed in four different apartments in the complex now and all have been very good - excellent facilities, modern and clean. The staff are very helpful, there is good on site parking and easy access.

Compared to others they offer excellent value given the quality and location.

Highly recommended - my only tip would be to book well in advance as they are very popular.

Room Tip: Ask for an apartment overlooking the park if you don't want to be looking at the demolition work...

First visit to NZ for some years and Christchurch post earthquake.

Needless to say a very different type of visit - but I would urge people to visit, it was an odd few days and very sad to see the CBD and other damage, but quite special to see the determination of the locals to rebuild their community and city, and in some small way support their businesses. My heart goes out to many but also admiration.

These apartments are within 50 yds of the CBD red zone, and consequently not near that many amenities - it's quite a walk to the nearest supermarket, bars and restaurants, but the Botanic Gardens are close and it's a pleasant walk through Hagley Park to Riccarton, and a short bus ride to Merrivale. It also has parking.

The accomadation itself was spot on - clean with all the facilities you'll need. Kitchen with dishwasher, washer and dryer. Lounge area had good views, and most comfy bed. The bathroom was small but that was made up by having one of the most powerful showers I'd come across for years.

Very pleasant to have a good sized balcony.

Price was NZD150 a night for a "superior" apartment which seems fair value for the city.

Been backpacking rtw for almost a year so decided to 'splash out' a bit and get our own apartment for a few weeks over Christmas and New Year. It didnt disappoint.

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment on 6th floor. Bed and pillows were nice and comfy. Kitchen had everything we needed to make a Christmas dinner (and not have to worry about the dishes after) and there was a washing machine and dryer in the bathroom. The building has a gym on the ground floor which was a nice extra, although I seemed to be one of a very few who use it so no waiting to get on the treadmill or anything.

On arrival we noticed the phone was missing and let the staff know, who then went out and bought a brand new phone for the apartment straight away.

Good location for city centre and gardens nearby and pretty close to some big shopping malls too.

Only a few bad points - before arrival we tried to contact them quite a few times via email and phone and never got a reply (which was unfortunate for them as we only wanted to ask if we could extend our stay!) They also charge for internet, I think its something like $35 a week which could easily be absorbed into the standard rate for the apartment.

Staying long term in a 2 bedroom apt. It is small by US standards, but well appointed and you cannot beat the location. The tram goes by outside but is not a bother and stops running at 9pm. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

We stayed for 2 nights, 3 adults in a sixth floor 2 bedroom apartment. Views lovely and apartment well equipped in general. Cost was reasonable ( $ 260/night) for kitchen , very small bathroom ( the least attractive room and no bath), small living room, and well equipped kitchen. Kathy who made the booking was very pleasant to deal with and very open to flexibility with check in and check out which we appreciated. There are 2 car parks and lift access to apartments. The info in apartments needs to be updated-we could not find the numbers to ring reception etc. the position is excellent and a short walk to the strip etc. One problem was that it was hot inside and we chose to sleep with the verandah doors open and then got traffic noise. They have air conditioning ( have to search out the controls in a bedside table) so better to set this up ahead of the evening, especially if staying in the summer. On the other hand, very warm apartments for a winter stay.
Would definitely stay again. Not all apartments would have the view so may be worth checking on this on booking.

We stayed for 2 nights in a side facing room and later we stayed 1 night in a front facing room.

OK OK so you have probably done your research like I did; you think it looks like a pretty nice apartment hotel and are nervous about the unknown. You want to know what's CRAP about this place, right? What nasty surprise are you going to get when you arrive, yeah?

Well there are only 2 things, so relax:
1. Both rooms we stayed in had very disappointing bathrooms. No bath, sorry. And the showers were those icky pre-fab plastic vinyl jobs (ie no tiling) that are easy to clean (if you're a cleaner you will be cheering) and hard to damage (another yay for the property manager) and just plain unacceptable in a building that is actually, in every other respect, very modern and attractive. And to add insult to injury, one of them had a water conserving shower head - ewww! So if you are going to book, ask for a room with a tiled shower and/or bath tub - see whether that is possible.
2. No newspapers. OK I admit I am being picky, but really how hard is it to pop a complimentary newspaper under/near the door each day? It would have added that little bit extra that makes you want to go back.

Oh, and the gym is quite good - a stack of equipment - better than most gyms that I have encountered in apartment hotels. Although it is not very well maintained (*sigh*). And you have to jiggle your room key in the lock to get in.

The saving grace is that the staff are SUPER NICE, really flexible (we had to amend our dates - no problems) and totally helpful with directions. This place is also gay-friendly. Thanks guys and gals for a lovely stay!
