“Colombo St branch is EXCELLENT!”
Reviewed February 18, 2011

Can't work out how to list this branch on TA so I'm putting the review here. We visited on a Thursday night and fully anticipated a typical Indian takeaway with food that looked all the same in a cheap-and-not-so-cheerful atmosphere. It couldn't be more different! Modern, clean location with a stylish small seating area, attentive friendly staff, BYO or purchase wine/beer on-site and a GREAT menu with some lovely Indian specialties including dhal and goat! Sure, there are people wandering in to collect their takeaways, but they can sit at a bar and read magazines and it's not a bother. Considering it's in an ordinary location, the place is really nice and the staff are terrific. We were able to take our leftovers home, so with the Entertainment Voucher discount, it was an inexpensive and surprisingly lovely hour and a half.

This cafe has pretty ordinary, but reasonably priced, Indian food.

“Amazing indian food, modern atmosphere”
Reviewed February 23, 2010

The food here was incredible!! There was just enough options, not too few, not too many. Both vegetarian and meat options available. Both "normal" and low-fat options too. "Stripped" (no dairy options) are full of flavour. I had the gurkhali chicken and my husband had the butter chicken, others in our group had samosas, naan, and bhajees. Everyone was happy with their meals. It is not extremely cheap like a chain takeaway place such as burger king or mcdonalds, but you also get much better quality and fresher food. Our meals were $10 and $12 and definitely were large enough for a meal.
The atmosphere was modern with house and ambient music playing and bench style seating.

I will definitely be making the trip back to this restaurant before I end my vacation.

“BEST INDIAN IN NEW ZEALAND!!”
Reviewed September 23, 2009

Oh how I miss this place!

Logan and the team at Arjee Bhajee have something very special in their restaurants. Along with super friendly staff and a chick, modern setting their food really is the best! I know people that hated Indian food untill they ate here, so I urge you to visit.

If you do not like spicey curries, try the Kashmiri chicken, or the Mango chicken, they are very mild and creamy, but I love the Chicken Makhani or Lamb Saag which have (a little) more spice. They are not afraid to get out of the box and in their BTS section (Better than Sex) even have a Goat dish - Goat Supreme.

Their Onion Bhajee's really are delicious with a tamarind chutney dip and a must have for the side of your curry is a nann bread, I prefer the garlic flavour.

If you are eating out, the curries come in a cute take out box called indi-boxes. Everything - rice & curry come in-di-box!!

Please, please go eat here, its a fab place and I guarentee you will not forget it!
