Having stayed at no frills Ibis Hotels in other cities we weren't expecting too much but this was a very good all round hotel. We had king size bed and room was decent size. We stayed for two nights and there were no negatives. The pleasant surprise was the quality of the food in the restaurant which was excellent as was the service. There aren't a lot of choices for dining in central Christchurch so if staying at the Ibis we can recommend dining in there restaurant.

No frills 3 star hotel - spotlessly clean, professional staff, small rooms but very comfortable. Great views over Christchurch from the picture window in the room. For business travelers - this hotel is perfect. Staff are friendly and efficient - as you would expect from the Ibis brand.

Room Tip: Higher up rooms have the best views

You'll have everything you would need. It's not luxury but very clean, comfortable and convenient. We stayed at twin room, there are 2 x double bed and enough space for us to open our luggage. It would have been perfect if there was a free WiFi in the room but you can't complain for the price! Very close to the but to the airport was a good point for me, too. I would definitely stay again.

Good amenitys, great staff, and good food. I would be happy to stay again. as even though it is the middle of a construstion zone. the rooms have double glaizing which keeps the noise down to a reasonable level, and also they dont work, during the evening.
you are close to several small food courts, so you also have a variety of choices. A short distace away you can also be walking alonside the river.
for a small cost for those needing transport to the airport, there is a daily shuttle service, which is certainly cheaper than a taxi fare.

I've repeatedly stayed in the Ibis over the past 6 - 9 months as a part of business travel to Christchurch, as other reviewers have reflected the staff at this hotel are generally outstanding and make you feel very welcome which is always appreciated. The hotel is also convenient to the amenities in the CBD such as the 're-start' mall and cathedral square which is useful.

Other than that I find Ibis Christchurch to be fairly average for a few reasons such as; the rooms on the northern side of the Hotel often do not have a view (you can opt for 'view rooms' when booking for an extra cost), the prices are fairly high compared to other Ibis hotels within New Zealand, and I feel that the rooms would be pretty crowded with a family of four in them.

Overall, a fine Hotel for short says, but there is definitely better options out there for the rice.

Room Tip: It is worth selecting one of the 'City View' rooms if that is important to you, the rooms on...

Dear NZL JC,
Thank you for your review and positive comments regarding your frequent stays at the hotel. It is pleasing to see that our friendly staff make you feel welcome. The rooms on the northern side of the hotel do not have a view and that is why we offer a small surcharge to enable those guests that want a room with a view to be able to get that. We would agree that 4 people sharing one of our rooms is not ideal and that is why we do not encourage that. We can assure you that our prices compare very realistically with other Christchurch hotels and we constantly review our prices to maintain that policy. Once again thanks for your comments.
Regards
