We stayed there 1 night and by the price we payed was a really good value. Everything cleant, nice shower, nice location, free wireless and good bed. No complaints. Will definitely consider staying there again, it does the job.

SInce the earthquakes , accommodation (and everything else) has shot up in Christchurch and it is near impossible to find affordable accommodation. I stayed at another hotel earlier in the week in Christchurch which was expensive and less than overwhelmingly. The Bealey is good value for the bucks - I got $90 on a last minute deal. Free broadband wifi ( this should be mandatory in all hotels as far as I am concerned) , SKY , parking , not far from town ( or what remains of it). Good kitchenette with microwave, two element stove etc. Very good bed and ditto for bathroom. Good size room with a table to work at. I shall certainly stay here again should I come through Christchurch. A tip for travellers coming from the airport - the taxi fares are exorbitant ( added to by a $10 airport fee). I found it cheaper to hire a car for a day than to use a taxi for two trips.

We stayed two nights at Bealey Aavenue Motel in May 2012. Very comfortable and close to the inner city of Christchurch. The parking was quite adequate.
The bed was quite comfortable. Fresh milk was provided on check in and enough tea, coffee and condiments were available. We had problems with the heater but the owner brought a portable heater and fixed the heater the next day.
The bed was comfortable and the linen was nice, clean. The room was spotlessly clean.
Checking out was a little bit of a problem as no one would answer our hellos and we did not notice the bell.

Overall this place is great value for money and just stayed during the night. We spend one whole day at the Antarctic center and outdoors mostly.

I stayed one night at Bealey Aavenue Motel. Very comfortable and close to the inner city of Christchurch. Two rooms on the ground floor designed with people with mobility issues in mind. Dedicated parking close to the door, and 'wet floor' shower unit complete with seat.

Comfortable queen sized bed and one single bed makes it a very versatile unit.

Fresh milk was provided on check in, and ample supply of tea coffee etc was available.

Friendly owners.

Room Tip: Bealey hotel is about 200 meters along the Bealey Ave for all meals and beverage needs

We stayed here because it was close to the Intercity Christchurch stop on Bealey Avenue and inexpensive. And from that point of view it was fine. But after staying in charming, quirky motels across NZ this was a bit of a shock. Our room was very stripped down and utilitarian. It had everything we needed but it was also plain, low quality (cheap sheets and towels) and the staff were a little gruff and unhelpful. The heat was also on/off--roast or freeze. Again, maybe it was just the shock after staying in warm, friendly places but I wouldn't stay here again.

Not worth the $137 I paid for 1 nights stay. Room was clean and has all you need for a simple nights stay. But that's about it. Me and my brothers were passing through and stopped for 1 night before heading to Auckland the following morning. On arrival, waited at reception for 10/15mins before anyone helped us, the Asian man looked at me and said "3 males for one room"? Quite rudely which I took offense to (so wouldn't be gay-friendly for anybody who is and passing through). Room also was advertised as having free wifi when we booked but was told at desk only one device per room which thought was a bit unfair. This day and age people own iPhones, MacBooks, iPads .. Just generally poor. Man at desk so rude had a good yell at him for how he treated us and how much of a waste of money it was. If you can put up with rudeness and somebody who only wants your money, then stay here.

My wife and I have stayed here a couple of times over the last few years. They have nice, clean, tidy, well maintained rooms that are modern and warm. The rooms have adequate heating, sound proofing and quality fixtures. The location is a little way away from main attractions (Re:Start city, Riccarton etc) but is well situated and can be walked if needed. Although situated on a busy road the noise is non-existent in the rooms and we had no problem sleeping.

Our room had heaters in the living area and the bathroom. It had a LCD TV with local and Sky TV channels. The bed was comfortable and the linen was nice, clean, tidy and not cheap and thin. The sink, kettle and fridge was in good working order and was a added bonus for making 2 minute noddles when a snack was needed. The room size is larger than we expected with a dining table chairs, arm chairs etc.

The staff are friendly and approachable and are happy to help with any problems that you might have.

Overall this place is great value for money and we have and will stay again. We recommended it to others for the price and type of accommodation you receive. .......

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the lower levels at time of booking if mobility is an issue. Second level only acc...
