Warm, welcoming and comfortable. Great location - very easy walk to the mall to stock up on supples. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Handy to have the cereal, milk, toast and jams provided for easy brekky the next morning. We had the family manor room which was just right for our overnight stay.

We stayed at Merivale Manor twice, at the beginning and the end of our trip. The first stay was only for one night which we had the family studio and a single studio. Both were nice, cozy, and warm. The family studio was spacious and fitted our family of four comfortably.
The second stay we had the 2-BR apartment, which in our host's term: "had so much space you won' know what to do in it". And that was true. The apartment was on the front ground floor of this charming Victorian house. Large 2 bedrooms with bathrooms were separated from the large living/dining/kitchen room by a corridor (all private to us). The apartment still sustain minor impact from the 2011 earthquake so there were some cracks running down the wall, etc. The host had been very fair and told us of the room conditions upon our enquiry before we made the booking.
The motel is just a few minutes walk away from a supermarket and lots of selection of restaurants. It is also not far from Christchurch city center by car. Very convenient location.

Stayed for one night after arriving at Christchurch airport, easy drive from the airport and only a short walk to Merival Mall. Checking in early after our long flight was no problem - we were given a warm welcome with a cup of tea on the balcony. Shown to an elegant, spacious room in the manor house. Bed was large and comfortable, bathroom was modern, as was the kitchenette. Having some breakfast cereals etc provided was great. Really nice motel, we would definitely stay here again!

We stayed for one night at the end of May as we were attending a family function nearby and now wish we could have stayed longer.
The location is so handy, we walked from the city centre, it was half an hour at most. Merivale Mall is just up the road and everything you can wish for shopping-wise is there.
We stayed in a Spa-Bath unit at the front and even though it's at the main road, we didn't hear any noise. The unit was beautifully appointed with a lovely little kitchenette that had everything you need. All the mod-cons were there too and the bathroom was a dream. Shame we didn't have time enough to try out the spa bubbles.
The unit was absolutely spotless and the service was great - we'll definitely make the Merivale Manor our place to stay again on our next visit to Christchurch!

This motel is in a wonderfully charming colonial building with a lot of character. We were on the top floor, the room was clean and well decorated and had everything we needed, and had a lovely bathroom.
Breakfast cereals, milk and bread for toast were provided in the room, which was a really nice touch.
The owner was very friendly and helpful.
It was a shame we weren't staying for more than one night, as this was a fantastic, comfortable motel.

Really enjoyed our one night here. The hosts are charming and very welcoming. The room in the manor was lovely. Complementary continental breakfast a bonus as was the free wifi and laundry. An awesome place to stay after 2 weeks on the road.
