Reviewed April 27, 2014 via mobile

Dined here with some friends one evening at the bistro service. Had a starter & a main the starter of the fish was delicious! My mains of fish was also lovely although the fish was a little bit dry, everything else was very nice & the flavours were great!

Had some great cocktails durning the evening too well recommended by the bar staff.

“Really enjoyed the new Bistro”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

We were a party of five including a two year old infant (Mia). The two gentleman running the bistro were very welcoming and attentive throughout the evening . A suitable infants chair was quickly in place and Mia who we thought may have been a problem was acknowledged by the staff and looked after leaving us to relax and enjoy our evening .Drinks were quickly in place with bread, dips and tasty chicken wings .The mains at $25 each are very cost effective options ,the fish of the day ,Gurnard was a real winner for us .
Full marks to the staff they made us very welcome ,the food was superb ,The Triplebank Pinot Gris was not over chilled as it often is at some resteraunts. We had a nice relaxed night out.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed April 22, 2014

Booked a table for a birhtday party after hearing all the good reviews and feedbacks. We were confused by the layout of the place as the front bar doesn't match the dining room located at the back of the premises. The welcoming by the lady behind the bar, wearing a black tee-shirt and jeans was average as it took her few minutes to acknolewge us, especialy that the bar was empty. A tv on the left conner of the room was playing music and we were wondering if it was the right place. After a drink while waiting for the late one, we've moved to the dining room which was looking very nice, cosy and warm. The big armchair were not as confortable as we thought it would be and way to big and deep. Each time someone had to go to the toilets the all table had to move. After ordering our food, it took about 35 minutes to get the entrees and about the same for mains. We felt it was a little bit too long. Food was declared ok across the table, lacking on flavour and lamb and duck dish were slightly overcooked. The service was excellent. After paying the bill, which came up at around $160 per person, we felt that the experience was not as expected on that occasion. Lot of potential but confusing. We were not sure to know what to think about the restaurant.

“Cooking School a huge hit!!”
Reviewed March 27, 2014

Simply amazing!!

We had 17 people in for the cooking school on a Tuesday night. It was all guys and we were being taught how to barbecue by Darren Wright.

Although the bar was busy, the cooking school part is seperated by sound proof doors and although Darren didn't use a microphone, we could all clearly hear him.

He taught us all about different meats, presentation, cooking, temperature, salads and all sort of things. we had booked for 1.5 hours but it easily went to two hours.

The food was simply divine!! The next day all the guys commented on the night which was going to end at 7.30 but some were still there after 10.00pm!

The bar staff came into the school and topped up our drinks and were very attentive after the class when we returned to the bar at the from.

Good thing was that the dining in the restaurant wasn't disturbed by us or the bar patrons.

Thank you Chillingworth for your service, food and atmosphere.

A fantastic night and Darren, you are a legend. Just the right amount of humour and interaction.

“Great for a special occasion”
Reviewed March 22, 2014

We booked a table at Chillingworth Road for my sisters birthday. When we arrived we walked into a very 'bar/cafe/ type place but were soon to be wowed by the dining room down the back of the restaurant. You walk through a big door and there is the most lovely dining room with a very relaxed and refined atmosphere. The wait staff were very attentive and knowledge able and could answer any questions. The also noticed that I was pregnant and mentioned that any meals could be tweaked to suit any dietary requirements.

We all chose to go with the 5 course menu. The tempter was a delicious gazpacho that had just enough of a kick to get your tastebuds going. My entree was a garlic soup with braised pork cheek - it was divine. We then had a sorbet before having our main. I had the freshly caught fish. It was so delicious and the portion sized was bigger than I was expecting. For dessert I had the vanilla panna cotta with cardamon cake. Again - faultless. Everyone in out party thoroughly enjoyed the food - there were no complaints at all. They even wrote Happy Birthday in chocolate on my sisters dessert plate!

Absolutely one of the best restaurants I have ever been to - would not hesitate to recommend it. Especially for a special occasion.
