Description: Dux Dine is a reflection of the past but a move into the future. A contemporary feeling, with fresh local seafood and vegetarian delights, Dux Dine has plenty to offer. Our delicious New Zealand wines and Dux craft beers are certainly a crowd pleaser. Dux Dine is situated in a historic turn-of-the-century Villa that was originally the Station Masters House for the Riccarton Railway. The villa has been extensively but sympathetically reworked to provide a variety of spaces to be enjoyed whether it be an intimate candlelit dinner for two, a large group celebration at one of the huge Kauri tables, grabbing a morning coffee at the breakfast bar, enjoyi Dux Dine has many reminiscences of the iconic Dux de Lux yet new and fresh while remaining comfortably familiar. Many of the old favourites can be seen on the menu as well as exciting fresh new foods and ideas. Dux Dine offers many setting options, from relaxing in a lounge, formal table setting to sitting in our sun drenched court yard. Whether it be a small group, special lunch or dinner, corporate event, product launch or company celebration we can cater for your needs. As a company we are passionate about supporting the local businesses around us. The seafood served in the restaurant is frequently sourced from Akaroa, Stuart Island and the West and East Coast including Southern Glory Oysters. With the ever changing environment, Dux Dine is pleased to say that we are environmentally friendly. Coffee cups, take away containers, and menus are all recycled.

“Not just for vegetarians.”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

Dux de Lux had always been my partners favourite restuarant so we were excited to go back once it reopened. Had a lot of trouble finding a night we could get a reservation. So 3 of us arrived mid week and were all delighted. The restaurant is warm, cozy and renovated brilliantly. We ordered drinks, garlic bread & chips. For mains we got a curry, beetroot pizza & quesadilla. The meals were a good size & well flavoured, my sister declared she didn't even miss the meat. We finished with a chocolate mousse cake. Will definatley be back.

“Terrible food to match the service”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

the four of us arrived 5minutes early only to be told we would have to wait 20 minutes as there were still people seated at our table, not a good start, we also received a little bit of cheek from the young girl who was seating us that wasn't appreciated. this is the second time we have been here and now our last, the food was lacking in flavour it was basically veges loaded onto a plate, for the price we paid for our meals we would have been better off getting a vegetarian pizza.
we won't waste our time coming back here

“Great breakfast”
Reviewed May 27, 2013 via mobile

On a rainy Christchurch morning this was a great cosy atmosphere. Cool decor. Table of 5 and everyone was very happy with their meal. Coffee was good. Can't really fault them!

“Highly recommend - gorgeous atmosphere.”
Reviewed May 24, 2013

My boyfriend and I came here on a busy Friday night without a reservation, and didn't rate our chances, but the hostess was lovely and managed to seat us at the bar table on bar stools.

It was a lovely meal in a lovely, homely atmosphere, with excellent service even despite the restaurant being full to over capacity. My boyfriend had the lemon & herb fish and I had the Akaroa salmon. For dessert I had the apple and quince crumble and he had the sticky toffee pudding (which he couldn't finish). Everything was very tasty, though to be honest I'm not the hugest fan of quince and I think next time I'll go for the creme brulee.

Mains, desserts and drinks came to about $110, but we had a 25% discount from our Entertainment Book gold card, so in the end it was very reasonably priced.

We'll most definitely be back (but we'll make sure to book so we can sit on actual chairs!).

“Busy but good”
Reviewed May 24, 2013

Good food but need to book ahead. Our waiter could have used a pencil and paper though (tried to remember too many orders and fluffed it 3 times).
