“a very special treat”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

We only stayed one night at this lovely place in Christchurch during our discovery tour of the North- and South Island and took the Tranzalpine train to Greymouth in the morning. We were more than pleasantly surprised by the very walm welcome we received from both, Ann and Harold - the weather was miserable and this special place seemed like a little haven amidst it. Ann and Harold strike the right balance of looking after your every need and not intruding on your privacy at the same time which we found most impressive. Our room was out of this world in terms of comfort and space. Breakfast was made to our order, delicious, plentiful and very timely. If I had to name one thing that wasn't to my liking - it was the softness of the bed, however we found that this seems to be something very common in NZ Hotels/ Motels. Having said that, if I was in Christchurch again, there is no other place, I'd rather stay.

We stayed here for 3 nights in November and what a great start it was to our month in New Zealand. We were given Eliza's room which was very spacious. The breakfasts were wonderful and freshly cooked to order. Ann was so helpful with tips as to where to go and directions. Loved the teddies especially the one she gave us when we left. Would definitely recommend.

The service provided by Ann and Harold was outstanding. When half of our luggage was lost by the airline, Ann made numerous phone calls, nagging the airline to hurry our bag back to us. There were many guests. We always felt like we were the most important guest at this B&B, while every other guest probably felt like they were the most important guest as well. The location is close to downtown. Although earthquakes have destroyed many buildings in the area, we had a great time in Christchurch. Both Ann and Harold were extremely helpful by providing us with information and support to visit restaurants and sites in the area. The breakfast was fabulous and the service was 5-star.

Room Tip: We stayed in 2 different rooms, since we were at the same B&B for both the start and end of our...

Stayed in Elizas Manor Boutique Hotel for 2 nights bed and breakfast at start of our holiday and 1 night at end. Ann and Harold are a very welcoming couple who cannot do enough to please their guests. Lovely room and bathroom with not only tea and coffee/wine but homemade anzac biscuits and chocolate teddy bears. Super breakfast - the best on our tour. Ann went out of her way to provide porridge on request althought it was not on her breakfast menu. A teddy toy, notebook and pen gifted to us on leaving. Next time we tour New Zealand we will insist that Elizas Manor is included in our itinerary. David & Lin Clark - Scotland

Room Tip: Book a heritage room

We just had our wedding at Elizas we were so impressed by the venue, rooms, food & impeccable service. Ann & Harold seem very passionate about what they do. They do go that extra with the guests. This was truly an amazing venue.
The rooms were beautiful and the breakfast in the morning was huge!
Thank you very much !

We stayed at Eliza's for two nights on first arriving in New Zealand and it was the perfect start to our holiday. Ann and Harold immediately made us feel at home and we were shown to a spacious and very comfortable room. The help and advice they then gave us was brilliant, including a map of Christchurch and a list of restaurants with information as to which ones were the best! The choices, quality and quantity of the breakfasts were amazing. On our departure, Ann provided us with a detailed route to our next destination including advice as to what to look out for on the way. As a memento, Ann gave us a teddy bear which now has pride of place in our house!

Great, homey stay and the hostess was super helpful as well! We had a lot of questions as it was our first time to Christchurch and she was prepared with a lot of information to give us.
The inside of the hotel is decorated in medieval style as are the rooms. All very nice, clean and spacious!
The breakfast offered is also very delicious!
