The manor is a beautiful place, but the room was not matched in quality. Especially the bed seemed a bit too old. Wifi was another problem, it was available, but most times didn't work. Other then that we fully enjoyedmour stay. Anne was the perfect host, so helpfull, amazing. Laundryservice was very good and the breakfast incredible. Overall we loved staying here, but the room we stayed in (The Butler's), could do with a little upgrading.

Room Tip: The next time I would ask for the bigger room, they looked very nice.

We stayed 3 days at Eliza's. Both in the classic and heritage rooms. Every room is truly comfortable and homely. The whole manor has a manor house theme and teddy bears everywhere. Anne is a collector and at last count we were told she has 1200 teddy bears!

Anne and Harold were most hospitable and accommodating. Truly felt the very small gestures such as opening the doors, hurrying to carry our very heavy luggage, making arrangements for our travel plans, the teddy bear chocolates in the room, the delectable home made jar of cookies, the world class breakfast and teddy bear soft toy gift.

The location is fantastic with many nice restaurants within a few blocks walk on Bealey's Avenue. The Botanic Gardens and Restart Shopping Area is also a short 20 mins walk away. Whereas you will probably need to drive for a short distance to the other malls such as Northland and Westfield.

We will definitely be staying here the next time we travel to New Zealand with our family.

Simply couldn't ask for more when away from home for work.
The service was dedicated and friendly, the rooms opulant, funcitonal and with a personal touch that made you feel less like a number.
I could not fault the experience I had and I am recommending this hotel to my entire team.

Charming old fashioned comfy bed and breakfast hotel. Don't expect upmarket or modern though. Our only issue was that they could do with new beds as ours tended to slope down towards the middle and the mattress was a bit lumpy. Exceptionally welcoming and helpful hosts. Nice breakfast.

My husband and I loved staying here. We had such a warm welcome after a 20-hour trip getting to NZ, including chocolates and homemade cookies in our room with a great range of teas, coffee and chocolate. Plus there was a fire in the front room! Anne was friendly and helpful, designing a great first day in CH-CH for us to keep us awake without taking too much on, getting a great overview of the city. She offered us help and detailed maps each day, and shared her stories about the city and the building, giving us a wonderful experience overall. This is why we choose to stay at B&B's - the personal, friendly service and local advice. This place was a great find.

Details - Location is great: easy walking distance to many attractions, on a main street that leads to other attractions. Free onsite parking. Room was comfortable, very large, and had all amenities (large shower, heated towel rack, big bathtub, in-room heating unit, tv, tea/coffee facilities with cookie jar, refrigerator, large windows, desk, comfy couch, etc.). Breakfast is wonderful - several choices, huge portions, something for everyone, all fantastic. Try the Eggs Benedict with local salmon. Wifi is available, just ask Anne for the code. There is also common room with extensive guidebooks and local information, and a bar with lovely NZ beer and wine.

Keep in mind that Christchurch is still recovering from their earthquakes in 2010/2011. When we were there (June 2013), a large area of city was still closed off, though was due to open back up soon. You still can't get to the Cathedral for example, and driving within the city is difficult due to road closures. But please don't let this deter you from visiting. The spirit of the city is still strong - their residents are amazing, and the stories of rebuilding are wonderful. Visit the container city for a wonderful feeling of the triumph of the city, and its determination. See the earthquake museum (Quake City) while you're there. And CH-CH still makes a great base for seeing surrounding areas (don't miss Banks Peninsula!), so it is still very worth a visit, just keep your expectations based on what you can/can't see updated.

Summary: can't recommend Eliza's highly enough. Perfect hosts, excellent room, wonderful food, priceless help with local info, great location, can't wait to return someday. We hope to see our new friends at Eliza's again and see Christchurch after rebuilding is complete.

This was the most warm, welcoming and charming accommodation we have ever stayed in. Anne and Harold could not have made our stay more pleasant and relaxing :) The rooms are so beautiful, and the teddy bears throughout the manor are super cute! Breakfast was delicious, and for dinner Anne made reservations for us at a nearby restaurant which was equally as yummy. I will be recommending this place to everyone I know. Honestly if you have a chance to stay here, do it. You won't regret it.

Room Tip: Any room here would be nice, each room is decorated differently which is cool.

This was our second visit to Eliza's. The first was when we were married and had our reception there. We were impressed then, and nothing has changed. Anne and Harold are amazing hosts and the atmosphere is welcoming and warm. We had a fantastic stay - very relaxing and the breakfasts were delicious. We will definitely be back again! Highly recommended! Oh and don't forget to eat the Anzac biscuits when you are there - they are delicious :)

Room Tip: Rooms out the back are quieter (some traffic noise).
