“Best Place to Stay in Auckland”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

A warm and friendly welcome from Joanne the manager set the scene for a most enjoyable stay at The Grange. We were in Unit accommodation and found it well appointed, very comfortable and very quiet. Everything needed for a short stay was here, heating more than adequate from electric blankets to heating in all areas. Delightful courtyard area to just sit and enjoy. Lovely European style breakfast area. Breakfasts were well presented tasty and great value with coffees being marvellous and so was the service. Within the CBD but not a lot of coffee/eating places close by due to the tragic series of earthquakes. The only place we will ever stay when we come again..and of course tell all of our friends.. Joanne the manager was articulate, extremely helpful and efficient.
I had an issue with our Travel Card and they were very helpful to assist us.. Keep up your wonderful little peace of accommodation so close to the city...

Room Tip: Always research where you want to stay, then Always check Travel Advisor for comments etc etc ..

I could not have chosen a more comfortable or convenient place to stay. The Grange is as near to the "red zone" as you can get. I am sory I cannot remember the name of person who welcomed us on arrival but she was extremely helpful with advising us about access to the devastated city, the restart area and local cafes, restaurants within walking distance. The motel accommodation we had was great and was ideally set up fro myself and a friend.

We recently stayed at the Grange at the conclusion of our South Island tour, to meet an early flight connection the next morning. Despite having only a few hours in Christchurch we were pleasantly surprised at the amount of activities available within walking distance of the The Grange, which is located on the edge of the Red Zone in central Christchurch.

The rooms were delightfully fitted out, the rooms large and quiet. We will definitely stay here again.

As a new migrant to NZ, I stayed at the Grange for a total of 30 nights and found without exception that this centrally located "Little Gem" was indeed superb, from the moment I arrived until the day I departed Des, Jo and the team at the Grange were absolutely fantastic they made me feel incredibly welcome.
The studio apartment was extremely comfortable and furnished to a high standard and kept very clean and tidy
I had initially booked for 10 nights but was so impressed that I extended it for the month as both the quality of this small hotel and the convenience of the location enabled me to begin my stay in NZ in a very comfortable manner.
I would be happy to recommend The Grange to anyone who wants good quality accomodation at a fair price and with satisfaction guaranteed, it is one to savour.

Room Tip: The upper floor of the rear block of studio apartments gives privacy with quality and comfort

We had a very enjoyable 3 nights at The Grange where we stayed in the Motels out the back. Very comfortable, clean, and quiet. We were able to have a very pleasant breakfast in the dining room each morning, the service was good and Jo was very accommodating. We will definitely stay here again. A great central site too.

We stayed at the motel. Our room was comfortable, spacious and furnished to a high standard. Excellent value for money. The owner, Des, showed us round the guest house which was nearly ready to be opened. The rooms were beautifully re-decorated. Christchurch is obviously going through a lot of re-building and Des helpfully showed us what was open and recommended good places to go in the evening.
