“Oh lovely Christchurch!”

Foley Towers is a good hostel. I found refugee there after the earthquake in 2010. The hostel has many beds but the atmosphere is still cozy. If you need to cook, you can choose between many kitchens. If you wanna relax, you can choose between different living rooms. You have many places you can hang around. I couldn't say there is anything wrong. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable, the people are friendly and the prices are ok. Just go there and enjoy!

We stayed at this hostel after flying over from Aus and this place turned out to be a great start to our time in NZ.

We arrived late in the day due to our flight times, but this caused no dramas at all, with the staff organising everything ready for our arrival. We met the staff the next morning who were friendly, helpful and informative. Our room itself, which was out the back in the cabin type building, was better than expected for the money. Spotless and nicely present with a brilliant bed which was more than welcome after a day of travelling.

The communal areas in the hostel are spacious and serve a number of purposes. There's a big kitchen along with a lounge area and a dining room to sit and eat your food. Oh, and also some nice outside areas that we would have no doubt used if the weather had been better.

As an added bonus there were the free 'odds and sods' bins full of stuff left by other travellers. My wife loved having a rake around in those and managed to grab some great items to save us some money and from freezing our bits off during the rest of our time in NZ.

If you're looking for a clean, tidy, well run, welcoming hostel on a budget, then get yourself booked in here.

We spent our 2 last nights in NZ in this hostel. We were given a very warm and friendly welcome and the facilities are excellent (some rooms en-suite) 2 large clean very well equiped kitchens, 2 big living rooms with a comfortable, home-y feel to them, laundry, garden. This was one of the best backpackers we stayed in in NZ. Excellent vakue for money.

We had a great time in this friendly hostel in a nice shared room with good beds and what is much more important with realy good mattresses. The rooms as well as the bathrooms are very clean and tidy and the kitchen is well equipped. The only thing what could have been better are the frieing pans. You find a large amount of free food and spieces and other property because many people leave New Zealand from Christchurch and stay here for the last nights.
So this is a good place to start a trip!

The lodge is nice, quite, safe and friendly. We booked the room in advance from Israel, and the room was exactly as promised.

The staff was very very helpful, and even made some phone calls for us, helping us to find a car rental agency.

The only caveat is the distance from the (currently dislocated, due to the earthquake) city center. It's about 15 minutes walking distance. Not too bad, but might be irritating after a heavy meal or a drinking evening.

Overall, it's a recommended, friendly, clean and safe place to be in.

I only stayed for two nights but had a good time. The kitchen was spacious and clean, the rooms were okay (mixed dorms, in case this is an issue for someone), and the common area was pleasant, like a chintzy old family living room.
The location is quiet and the guests were all pretty laid-back and respectful while I was there - no noisy partying.

We only stayed in this hostel for one night. However it was a good place to spend the time.

The staff was really friendly and helpful. After a long day on the road the hostel was a good place to relaxe and have a good nights sleep.

All facilities were clean and offered almost everything you need (except one of those small coffee machines!).
