“Overall, a decent room and stay”
Reviewed August 21, 2012

After 30+ hours of travel with four connections and delays at each leg, the Sudima was a welcome relief. The room I had was a little tired but it was neat and clean and the bed was comfortable. As others have already noted, lighting in the room is dim. Walls are thin, I could hear the telly next door. The room was also uncomfortably warm and temperature could not be adjusted. Ended up keeping the window open while inside.

Wireless access was convenient. Was able to video chat back home with minimal lag.

Had dinner at the restaurant on the premises. The braised lamb shanks were okay. Not as good as my wife's cooking, but satisfying. Except for here and at the airport, there are no other dining options in the immediate area.

The staff is friendly, polite and provided good service. I might stay again if I am traveling alone and close proximity to the airport was necessary.

Room Tip: The better reviews seem to come from those who stayed in the newly remodeled rooms.

We only had a night here when we arrived on our way to Mt Hutt. Not to sure if I would stay again. Was a little to noisy and the staf were a little to slow to help.To be fair it was cheap but everywhere else we stayed in NZ was great and the staff seemed really happy to be there.Maybe try another.if your fussy.

Well if u want a hassle free transfer to airport which is just across or if u want to visit the antartic center right adjacent then choos Sudima .

The lobby is always filled with people as its near to airport , The food is Nice and the staff is warm .

There is free wifi at lobby area ,

The best part is that its 100 meters from The fantastic Antartic center . a must watch .

the rooms are little tiered and old . No other major facilty in hotel

We recently spent 2 separate nights at this hotel on our way to Methven and on the way back. For the price we paid, we expected very little but were pleasantly surprised with the suites. We had a small balcony, a renovated bathroom and a surprisingly comfortable queen sized bed.
We were also very pleased with the service which included a free shuttle to and from the airport and the staff bent over backwards to help us and make sure we were happy.
We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and for very little money we had a wonderful 2 course meal in a pleasant atmosphere.
We will deffinitely stay there again!

Room Tip: Book through the website, it has better deals, but be aware that the payment doesn't come out un...

Like main guest staying here choose the Sudima Hotel because I was heading to Melbourne early the next morning... Its a great location only a short walk or free shuttle to and from the International Airport.
Check was okay..
The room was dated and 2 small single beds in it... asked reception to move however the hotel was full... they gave me voucher for dinner for the inconvenience. The room and bath rooms are very dated and need a lick of paint and new furniture.
The hotel can be noise because there are flights coming in and out all times of nights... I know was woken up with people talking however this was a good thing because I sleep through my alarm...
Since the earthquake in Christchurch this has seen the price of accommodation go up...the Sudima is a bit overpriced however location makes it worth it...

We stayed here knowing we had to be at the airport at 4:30am, and only for one night. I felt it was a shame we didn't get to stay a full night or two because the hotel is really good. If it was located in the middle of a city it would be fantastic but obviously being at the airport it has a main purpose of serving those coming in or going out.

The hotel had a 24 hour front desk which was useful and we checked out at 4:30am and the shuttle bus was ready and waiting (no need to book). We simply hopped in and they took us directly to departures.

The room itself was well equipped with a good shower, large bed, arm chairs and sky television. It is simply a very comfortable place to stay. It has a coin operated computer in the foyer as well as wi-fi for a reasonable amount.

The hotel also has room service and a bar/restaurant which is handy due to the location, but there is also a McDonalds next door in case you want something quick and cheap.

All in all, it's a great hotel, if you are looking to use it as a base it would be fine to stay longer as well, being about a ten minute drive from the centre of Christchurch. Given the centre of the city if under construction it's probably not a bad option.

Room Tip: There is no lift so if you have issues carrying your bags up the one flight of stairs opt for a down...

We stayed one night on June 23rd enroute to Auckland for an early flight overseas. We've done this several times before, and not had a problem. This time we had a great evening meal at the restaurant and then went to bed at 8.30pm. We were awoken half an hour later by the newly arrived neighbours who were crashing around, shouting and had the TV up really loud. We could hear every sound in our room! We rang reception and they said they would contact the neighbours. Then they called back to say they would move us. It was SO inconvenient. They said they had tried to contact the neighbours but they didn't answer...hmmm. I suspect they were moving us and leaving the noisy guests to do their own thing! The helpful evening staff member Reg helped us move down the hall to a huge 1 bedroom with separate lounge and we tried again to get some sleep before our early start. It was less than ideal as obviously some rooms have little or no sound insulation. Watch out for this and ask for a quiet room if you need an early night.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room if you need the sleep!
