“A must-do in Christchurch!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2012 via mobile

We had an awesome day here, spent a little extra to do the Lion Encounter which is an absolute must-do (if you don't have small children) - being inside a cage which the lions climb all over as they're being fed! Some stray drops of lion drool but I guess it's all part of the experience.

Staff were friendly, with one even approaching us later in the day asking what we thought of the Encounter. Great to see people really passionate about what they do.

The normal entry fee of 25.00/adult represents great value for money for the size of the park and huge number of animals and it also includes some hands-on feeding sessions.

“Good for kids”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2012

Compared with the likes of Auckland Zoo and Australia Zoo. This is a bit of let down from presentation of the park to interaction with animals/keepers. You need to time each enclosure with their feed times othewise you're not likely to get good views of the animals, especially the big cats and the wild dogs. My favourites are the giraffes.

“Nice Open Zoo with good opportunities to get close to Animals”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2012

Spread out, open lay out with some very nice exhibit. Be sure to check out all the animal feedings - they were by far the highlight for us! Got mere inches from a Giraffe, and got to see a lot of the animals very clearly while the park employees fed them and gave talks about them.

“Absolutely Brilliant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2012

We did the Cheetah encounter a few weeks ago. One of the best experiences ever!! Super staff and the animals are able to be seen up close while still having lots of room to roam. Give yourself plenty of time and take the kids. Great picnic area as well as a good cafe for lunch and coffee.

“Fantastic place - filled with opportunity!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2012

Fantastic, friendly staff. Great options for lunches, few places are you still able to take your own if you wish to. Animal feedings were amazing! We went on the Lion Feed and it was confronting to be so close to the Large cats and amazing all at the same time. Giraffe, Rhino and Cheetah feedings all followed soon after. A fantastic afternoon stroll for everyone. Well worth the price of admission.
